@MSBIntel This is exactly the gap I’m trying to make easier to analyze here. Aave’s protocol earnings vs. AAVE market valuation. aaveval.com

INSIGHT: Aave has earned $43.3 million year to date, 80.7% of the entire lending sector's earnings. That is 766% higher than the second-largest protocol, Maple Finance, at $5.0 million. Earnings count revenue after token incentives, so Aave holds about half of lending TVL but four-fifths of the profit.

.@Grayscale Research has just published its first explicit price target. $175 for $AAVE within 12 months. That alone is notable, not because price targets are new, but because crypto is gradually entering a phase where traditional valuation frameworks are being applied more systematically and with more conviction. Some crypto assets can, in fact, be valued using cash flows and @aave is one of the clearest examples due to its scale, consistent usage, and relatively transparent on-chain financial data. Grayscale highlighting this so directly is an important step in that evolution. This matters because it challenges a long-standing assumption in crypto investing: that valuation is purely narrative-driven or liquidity-driven. In reality, Aave generates real revenue through observable economic activity, borrowing demand, interest rate spreads, and protocol fees. That places it closer to early-stage financial infrastructure than to a purely speculative digital asset. What Grayscale is effectively doing here is formalizing something the market has been moving toward for a while, treating leading DeFi protocols as investable, cash-flow-linked financial systems rather than experimental tokens. Still, there’s an important nuance that even strong models have to account for. Cash flows in crypto are not stable, linear, or cycle-independent. They are highly sensitive to liquidity conditions, leverage demand, and broader risk appetite across the system. So while frameworks like Grayscale’s represent a meaningful step toward institutional-grade analysis, they should be seen as directional tools, not equity-style precision models. imo, the real shift here is not the $175 target itself, but the gradual normalization of Aave and similar protocols being treated as investable assets with real fundamentals and measurable execution quality. Grayscale is not just publishing a price target, it is reinforcing a narrative that a segment of crypto is maturing into a cash-flow-driven financial layer of the internet. The market is still early, but the direction of travel is becoming clearer.

Here's our forecasted Claude spend, broken down by team. Engineering is highest at $3.1k/person/month. No surprise. The interesting part is who's right behind them.

16/ That is probably where AI work is going. Less obsession with one frontier model. More focus on workflows that survive when the model changes.

15/ The real advantage is knowing how to turn your work into systems. Map the workflow. Build the mini app. Use the strong model where it matters. Use cheaper or local models where they are enough. Keep the human in the review loop.
