It’s #cattober! This year I’m trying something different. The children’s book Catwings is incredibly near and dear to my heart, and I’ve always wanted to take a crack at making it a graphic novel. I doubt I can do the entire book but I want to illustrate a few pages for fun.

This is very important to remember. I felt like such a loser for not making more things until I saw the amount of unproduced dream projects he had. This fuels me to this day!

There is still beauty in this world. There is still magic. Birds endure.

Sorry but if we don't shop at our local used and independent bookshops, we will lose them. Declining literacy threatens the very existence of bookselling as a business. A world where people can't buy books in person would be a very bleak place.

Saw someone say, “Stop hoarding books, we don’t need paper books anyway” and I can’t express how misguided this is. Online libraries disappear, digital books can be altered, and with Big Tech seeking to destroy history and literacy, print media has never been more essential.

Make art that you think is fuckin sick as hell. Make the shit you never thought you could that you always wanted to see. Beat your insecurity to death and fight to become your own favorite artist.

I know y’all don’t follow me for birds but they’re one of the few joys I’ve got. The world sucks but my little backyard birds make everything just a little better.

These sketches are based off a faithful lil warbler that came down every morning when I did my mealworm rounds. He has since migrated, as most warblers do once spring came around.

I’ve fallen deep into the rabbit hole of birding/backyard bird feeding so these days all I’ve got are a lot of bird studies. Starting with a yellow-rumped warbler, one of the first to make an appearance in my yard.
