It was the whole interview being negative, the cussing combined with the track criticism, and basically calling the fans stupid (which I haven’t seen anybody else comment on, and the worst thing IMO).

In the midst of all this Bristol dirt conversation, it reminded me when Nashville Fairgrounds' quarter mile layout got dirt thrown on it and had a 2 day WoO Sprint weekend on it. Looking back, there is no way this would happen today, especially with where the track is at.

@tonybrucejr Getting 1-2 nights a year of WAY bigger exposure makes sponsorship a lot more alluring for a local class or smaller series.
I’d prefer a more efficient show, but this is better for the sport top to bottom.

@TJacobs3J Difference to me is that thorson didn’t bad mouth anyone or the series. Gravel would have made some whinny comment about high limit. I can completely understand not wanting to tear equipment up for no reason

@WookieDrives Idk if this is the sole reason, but DHL spent crazy big in the mid-2000s to try entering the US market and be a true UPS/FedEx competitor, and failed so bad they left the US entirely for like a decade. Probably played a role.

Its a shame DHL never stepped up like they were expected to (i think there was a strike around this time), because this would have been a left field but wonderful addition to the field full time.

@chaoticgod924 @Asteroid4914 I feel like there’s a pretty obvious difference between someone having a great career in modifieds or trucks (lower series, maybe some things just never worked out for them to move up) vs the modern O’Reilly series, where anyone good is gonna get a Cup shot.

@Asteroid4914 I agree with Jr. It's not the NASCAR Cup Hall of Fame, it's the NASCAR Hall of Fame. That includes the greats from the lower series, too. Justin Allgaier is 100% one of the best in the NORAP series and a lot of younger drivers look up to him.
He's deserving.

Minimalism is such a stain on sports. There’s no space better suited for kooky maximalist fun design, but instead we’re slowly turning everything into a millennial targeted D2C olive oil brand (derogatory)
