If they are violating the law, why are you introducing new legislation? Seems like that would imply they are actually following the law, which you are now trying to change.
Senator Cortez Masto@SenCortezMasto

The problem here is simple. Prediction market companies are violating the law to run illegal sports gambling operations and Trump's "regulators" are looking the other way. Congress needs to act to reinforce the law and prevent corruption.

@DCat7 @Kalshi More likely impacted by Robin Hood shutting off the faucet once their own solution is ready. Tough month/month and quarter/quarter comps when 90% of your volume disappears overnight.

I asked Claude’s deep work model for the odds that @kalshi’s business is materially impaired by a regulatory action over the next 5 years. It placed the odds at 55-60%. The $20B valuation is actually much higher on a risk adjusted basis. I’m not defending those odds.

@Frank_Frangie This was a borderline pitch and not a terrible call either way. It’s definitely waaaay too close to take in that situation. So batter got what he deserved.

For baseball nerds like me, this is the problem I have with the ABS system coming to MLB. It was a strike when it crossed the plate. And was correctly called. But by time catcher caught it, looked low. ABS challenge system will call it a ball. I say let the umps call it. FWIW.

@WALLACHLEGAL @CNBC If they only meant agricultural goods, then why the need to go back and expressly carve out motion picture box office receipts? That should have been obvious if that assumption made any sense. Completely defeats that argument there.

Mike Selig recently said on @CNBC that the CFTC's jurisdiction over prediction markets is "extraordinary broad" because Congress excluded only “onions" and “motion picture box office receipts" from the definition of “commodity." The federal judiciary disagrees. See CFTC v. TMTE.

Questions: Is Pebble Beach now obsolete? I’m talking about for the modern PGA Tour player. All the par 5’s are simple for them. They hit wedge or SW to almost all the par 4’s. Pebble Beach is extended to the max. It’s my favorite all time course. I love it, but technology has made it too easy. Is it great for 99% of golfers. Absolutely yes! There’s no public golf course that compares to the magnificent golf holes at Pebble Beach. Next question: Wasn’t it better to have the amateurs and the celebrities playing on the weekend? I think this made this one tour event different and special. @GolfDigest @GOLF_com #golf

Traditional bookies limit winning players and offer criminal odds because the house needs to win. On Polymarket, you’re betting against other players at fair odds, and Polymarket won’t ban you for being profitable. The audacity to call this bill the “Fair Markets and Sports Integrity Act.” What transparency do traditional bookies give us?
Dina Titus@repdinatitus

Prediction markets should not be able to circumvent state gaming laws. Consumers deserve transparency, accountability, and protection against such predatory practices. That is why I introduced the Fair Markets and Sports Integrity Act to prevent entities from engaging in transactions involving sporting or casino-style event contracts.

What authority does the CFTC have over prediction markets? It's a key question, and one that former CFTC Chair @giancarloMKTS joined the Law of Code podcast to unpack. In this clip, Chris explains the CFTC's jurisdiction and why a national regulator is in the best interest of society:
