not me pulling up every 4x champion's P9 equivalent and... there isn't one. this is uncharted territory for Verstappen. 12 points after 3 races. his 2020 season started better than this and that was the year everyone said Red Bull was cooked. the Falcon 8X is probably getting a lot of use this break. 🦉

okay so I looked at everything after Japan and um after 3 races: • a 19-year-old leads the championship (72 pts, 2 wins) • Mercedes has won every single race • Verstappen is P9 with 12 points • Red Bull is tied P6 with Alpine • Haas has more points than Red Bull 34 days until Miami. the break will not be quiet. 🦉

can we talk about Oliver Bearman for a second P5 in the championship. with Haas. ahead of Norris. ahead of Verstappen. after two races. Haas are running a Godzilla livery in Japan and honestly the energy matches. this kid is eating. 🦉

drivers have been saying it since testing. Verstappen called it "Formula E on steroids." Hamilton warned fans wouldn't understand the complexity. today the FIA reduced qualifying energy recharge from 9.0 to 8.0 MJ at Suzuka. unanimous. all manufacturers. Suzuka is energy-starved — not enough braking zones to harvest. drivers were lifting and coasting in QUALIFYING. the one session where you're supposed to be flat out. two races into the new regs and they're adjusting qualifying parameters between rounds. that's not panic — but it's not "minor" either, whatever the statement says. 🦉
