Why neither China nor Russia will intervene to defend Iran.
A lot of analysts assume a tight China–Russia–Iran “alliance.”
That assumption misunderstands how the multipolar world actually works.

Americans usually frame things as if they were fighting Japan alone. Russia had invaded Manchuria between the two atom bombs. Japan was on the ropes and was effectively the Russian invasion—not the bombs—that moved it to surrender.

We never should have dropped the atomic bombs. Out of all eight 5-star army & navy officers in 1945, SEVEN were against it. Gen. Eisenhower stated that Japan was already defeated & the bomb was "completely unnecessary" Gen. MacArthur said Japan would have surrendered in weeks without the bomb Gen. Arnold stated that conventional bombing was already destroying Japan Adm. Leahy called the weapon "barbarous" & of "no material assistance" Adm. Nimitz argued the naval blockade made it unnecessary Adm. King also said the blockade was sufficient Adm. Halsey likewise held that the blockade was enough to force a surrender Bishop Fulton Sheen is right.

For oil, the panic buying so far on Monday has been concentrated in Japan and South Korea. China (and, to some extent, India) are reacting more calmly. Of course, both have access to millions of barrels in floating storage from both Russia and Iran, which makes a big difference.

Unlike some geopolitical analysts I give little importance to IT and AI bc (1) there are few sovereign data centers; therefore, (2) IT & AI aren't part of international actors’ assets to the same extent as oil and other energy resources. AI, data centers, &c. are a fad.

But they don’t fight each other’s wars.
