JK Rowling, after the UK Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex, posted a photo of herself smoking a cigar and drinking a cocktail with the caption:
"I love it when a plan comes together."
She funded the legal challenge, won in the highest court in the UK, and celebrated with a cigar. Is Rowling the most consequential author alive right now?

@LairdOfThManor @tumiyukii Without common knowledge of UK voting practices(layman), does this mean this man is out of office right now or is it yet another delayed motion for change?

Under Labour, rape offences soared, illegal immigration spiralled entirely out of control, the economy flatlined, taxes climbed ever higher, and Britain’s wealth creators packed their bags and left in droves.
So yes, Labour has just endured one of the most catastrophic political humiliations in modern British history. Frankly, the country should be grateful for it.
In 2025, Britain limped along with a pitiful 1.3% growth rate, among the weakest in the G7. Meanwhile, a staggering 16,500 millionaires fled the country, taking an estimated $91.8 billion of wealth with them. The Channel crisis worsened yet again, with 41,472 illegal migrants arriving in small boats, up 13% on the previous year, while recorded rape offences reached another grim record high.
Yesterday, the electorate delivered its verdict with all the subtlety of a guillotine.
Labour lost Wales for the first time in the party’s history. Reform swept up more than 1,200 councillors. Labour haemorrhaged over 1,000 seats in what can only be described as a full scale political collapse. Their national vote share cratered to somewhere between 15 and 17 percent. At a general election, figures like that would reduce hundreds of Labour MPs to little more than bitter memories and redundant LinkedIn profiles.
In a single night, the party that once wrapped itself in the language of the British working class discovered, to its horror, that the working class had finally stopped listening.
Keir Starmer now looks less like a Prime Minister in waiting and more like a man watching the floorboards disappear beneath his feet. Labour MPs have already begun circling like undertakers at a state funeral. Union allies issued the blunt warning to “change or die”, while the Welsh Labour leader demanded a new direction mere moments after losing her own seat.
And yet there stood Starmer before the cameras, delivering his usual pre-programmed corporate drivel about how “days like this don’t weaken my resolve”, sounding less like a leader and more like an automated customer service response. Even members of his own party branded him robotic and tone deaf. Quite right too.
When a government makes its citizens poorer, less safe, and increasingly voiceless, then dismisses their anger as prejudice for daring to notice, it is no longer governing. It is insulting the intelligence of the electorate.
Labour did not lose because of messaging. They lost because people experienced the consequences firsthand. In shrinking pay packets, in unsafe streets, in collapsing public confidence, and at borders that appear to exist purely as decorative suggestions.
Keir Starmer’s position is no longer sustainable. The country has spoken, and the message could scarcely be clearer.

@its_The_Dr I’m not a conspiracy guy in any way (the world IS, in fact round). Im beginning to believe his mission is to get New Yorkers to move out so he can transform it into London.

Celebrating America’s 250th birthday in Front Royal! 🇺🇸
It was a joy to join the town at their community block party – and to take part in the ‘potluck’. Their Majesties contribution was none other than… a Coronation Quiche! 🥧
‘America’s Potluck’ is a 250th celebration initiative, which aims to bring neighbours together across the country to share a communal meal and build a sense of connection in their community.
Thank you for having us! 👋
