@MaryLowe501 Exactly. Politics IS differences of opinion. The system exists so we deal with such differences sensibly. At least in theory anyway. Recent comments from some members does make you wonder what precisely they are being told though?

Yvonne Burford@YvonneBurford

@oldfarmhorace @MaryLowe501 You can’t code-of-conduct someone for publicly disagreeing with their committee.

No one’s cancelling your bacon. No one’s calling your pint a hate crime. You’ve invented a culture war in your head and now you’re acting like you’re Churchill for surviving a Wetherspoons breakfast. You think people campaigning for a fairer country are the enemy? That wanting a clean planet, workers’ rights, or basic decency makes someone less “proper”? Grow up.

Stephen is a grotesque human being, of that there is no question, but here he is actually quite correct. Starmer should be recognizing a Palestinian State because it’s the correct thing to do. Not using it as a political football. If you want the genocide to stop sanction them
Stephen Pollard@stephenpollard

Starmer's recognition of a Palestinian state is even worse than trailed: he is explicitly using it as a stick with which to beat Israel, saying he will recognise it unless Israel does what he wants.

Nobody warns about the hazards of reading at a young age. I’ll be mispronouncing words like “haphazard”, “melancholy”, and “hors d'oeuvres” for the rest of my life.

On the buses.gg website, I wanted to see which to take to get me to Trinity Square... I thought it would offer me the one in Guernsey, but apparently the UK (Sutton), Slovakia and Hungary were more reasonable. 🤔

@advocategreen1 @BBCGuernsey It also opens them up to be available more fully for other areas too. While some people may feel able to do multiple things well, we do all have limits!

@advocategreen1 @BBCGuernsey Agreed. I'm struggling with how to best express my thought here, but I feel, overall, if someone was the "best" candidate but needed to recuse themself repeatedly, a slightly "worse" one who could truly be there in the mix for every discussion would actually be a better option.

@advocategreen1 @BBCGuernsey I'm not an expert (as will become very clear), but I'm uncomfortable where people put themselves in positions where conflicts of interest will inevitably emerge. Is there not a way that, for example, STSB could simply consult Deputy Kat-Moat, without him being on committee?

@BBCGuernsey Some roles in the States are effectively full time, ie President of HSC, Education, P & R. But quite a few of the other roles are not truly full time and we shouldn't pretend they are.

Premature babies in Gaza's hospitals are facing slow death due to malnutrition and a severe shortage of infant formula, as the Israeli occupation authorities continue to close the border crossings with the region, blocking the entry of essential supplies.
