I find the idea that One Piece is meant to be read in a binge interesting. Mangakas main task is to tailor their chapter by chapter structure to accomplish both short term and long term reader satisfaction. This means retrospective reviews of past chapters is essential when reading manga.
If all of the above is true, then there are a-lot of things that can be written in the future that can make past chapters better OR worse.
I also think invalidating immediate reactions to chapters ***entirely*** contradicts the weekly structure of manga releases. a chapter can be bad on its own but still serve a purpose for the greater narrative.
This beckons the question, what is the “right” way to consume manga? Is there even a right way?
