Global People's Author Notes on their meeting with #zhanglinghe: The day we met Zhang Linghe, he arrived even earlier than the agreed time, which surprised us, as we're often used to schedules running late. While we were still adjusting the equipment and busy with preparations, a pair of white sneakers entered our field of vision first. Looking up, we saw Zhang Linghe standing in front of us in a white shirt, smiling and greeting us. The night before, he had just traveled from Hengdian to Beijing. The spring poplar fluff had worsened his rhinitis, and he got a nasal spray from a staff member. His voice carried a nasal tone, and it was clear he was tired. When I asked him, "You must be pretty exhausted, right?" he simply replied softly, "I'm okay." Whenever I had met Zhang Linghe before, he was always carrying the identity of a character. This time, he was simply Zhang Jiawei. When talking about documentary Exploring The Future, he spoke as if sharing stories from a journey with friends, recounting the things that had shocked him, surprised him, and left him with regrets. Having only seen a rough cut himself, he was especially curious about what had been kept in the final version that we had already watched, constantly asking which parts remained. Behind that anticipation was his hope that, through his own experiences, more people could see the stories behind the energy transition and the people who quietly dedicate themselves to it. Throughout the conversation, he hardly avoided any questions and rarely dressed himself up with polished, carefully crafted answers. What began as a somewhat formal interview gradually turned into a conversation with no sense of distance between us. By the end, everyone seemed to have almost forgotten the cameras were even there. As the interview was drawing to a close, we talked about the challenges and uncertainties of creating content in our respective industries. Unexpectedly, in the end, it was he who encouraged me: "Don't worry. If you want to do it, then go do it."
