El horror es algo distinto al terror. Como argumenta Adriana Cavarero, el horror es una violencia ejercida sobre víctimas indefensas, inermes. No busca sólo matar, sino destruir la identidad de la persona y su unidad corporal; y no se dirige sobre una víctima específica, cualquiera puede ser objeto de ella.
El CJNG ha llevado a la práctica estos diferentes registros del horror al privar de la libertad a sus víctimas, desmembrar sus cuerpos y desaparecerlos ocultando sus restos.
