@ElmaRyder Can’t believe that these people want to display their stupidity to the whole world! I suppose the old saying : "Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue"

I’m not a Catholic, but wouldn’t it be great if we could get #Ilovethepope trending as he’s plainly a good, decent, principled human being, and, on Musk’s platform, this will annoy a lot of powerful, evil people. Do please repost.

The fuel protesters were ordinary people. Yet we hear that many have been issued with summons and tickets. These must be cancelled.

@DavidMarra @Ben_Scallan It goes a long way to retrofit houses so that citizens have warmer more comfortable homes and use less fossil fuel. It goes to protect our rivers and streams and biodiversity. It’s a small price to pay.

Irish voters believed Eamon Ryan and the Green Party were responsible for many policies that they hate, e.g. carbon tax, ultra wokeness, etc. The public were under the impression that FFG were basically sensible and competent at their core, and were simply being forced to make concessions to radical environmentalists against their better judgement for the sake of holding the coalition together. So the voters destroyed the Green Party and reduced their Dáil share from 12 seats to 1, but kept FFG around, assuming they'd get a steady hand of the old parties unencumbered by window box salads and wolves. And yet now the Greens are gone, but the policies people hate remained. It's almost like the Green Party weren't actually the primary culprit, and were only a convenient mudguard for the bigger parties, who are actually the primary defenders of this stuff.

If you read this garbage you will never get the ten minutes of your life back. Carbon tax or taxing people because you tell them it will change the climate is the biggest lie believed by a small percentage of people.

@circlete @Ben_Scallan Climate change is a real issue in the same way our sun might decide to cook us is a real issue. We could realistically stop poisoning our water and destroying the planets ecosystems - but that’s achievable - like how we removed CFC’s from products. Action not taxation.

DUBLIN TODAY: When Americans visit Ireland, we want to see Irish people. Walkability downtown has tourist destinations sure, but local citizens see the decay and dulling of their capital city via migration, fraud and fronts. Sound familiar? Small business owners can't afford the corporation rates to city council for even pubs and restaurants if they're not in the hottest attraction areas. Touring Mt. Joy Square, O'Connell & Parnell Sts. I came across the New Irish lads coming in. Some couldn't understand my accent! Some didn't know where St. Patrick's cathedral was. Time for a good cleanup! Time to get up and vote out these crooks and fraudsters!

@RealEddieHobbs When @RealEddieHobbs and @kenoflynnTD give interviews to US podcasters and lie & talk down our country & do Trump speak like ‘draining the swamp’, they are treasonous right wing scumbags & the general public know it. You’re the ones who hate Ireland

@ElectricianDub @Ben_Scallan @jasonomahony You’re just a right wing racist bigot. The populist right wing are losing support everywhere. Racism has destroyed UK with Brexit and Trump is destroying economy of US. Orbán is gone. Ireland’s fascists have missed the party. Ha ha

@circlete @Ben_Scallan @jasonomahony There should be an election when a government has total disregard for its ppl. starts spending tax payers money on over inflated projects. Spending taxpayers money on ppl who have nothing to do with irl. Meanwhile tax tax tax for Paddy and cut backs.

All this yap about the govt having no mandate. Put that into legislation: are we genuinely saying we should have an automatic general election every time govt support drops below 50%? What are we specifically actually saying? Reduce the Dail term to 2 years? What?

@Ben_Scallan @jasonomahony Ben, what you’re saying is there should be an election every time there’s a global event that affects inflation or the price of petrol etc. That take is childish populism. Careful thoughtful governance- not knee jerk reaction is required.

To be clear, I'm not arguing for or against this, but to articulate the view, I don't think most people want a LEGAL requirement to hold an election, but they think that when massive events happen and the facts change substantially, and there's a widespread perception that the government have lost the dressing room, they should go back to the well and get another thumbs up from the public before proceeding further. It's not about introducing a new law or formal rules, but about what's proper. As for how you define such moments, I think it's like the definition of pornography: "You know it when you see it."

This is a genuine question. What things should government be doing differently across specific public policy areas? Should spending be re-directed to particular activities?

Fianna Fáil Cllr Seamus Butler of Longford Town responded to this woman this way after she emailed him about her struggles and asked him to vote no confidence in his own party. While he actually can’t vote anyway, his response speaks volumes about how Fianna Fáil view the ordinary Irish person. They simply don’t care.
