I’ve been pushing back when people use language that perpetuates the situation/culture they are complaining about. The other day a Black man thought just bc I’m a white looking woman, I wouldn’t have a problem with him talking about my white privilege. I said I really don’t think you want to have that uncomfortable conversation with me but if you’re up for it I am. I asked him what his Daddy did for a living. He said he was a doctor. I said mine was an addict and worked in construction, I grew up in an apt in alley in East LA. I said wasn’t going to play the game of you tell your sob story and I’ll tell mine and we see who wins. I’m not a victim and neither should you be, I know you aren’t raising your kids to be victims. So let’s stop using language like this.

A Christian POC told me that they had to work harder than everyone else to get where they are. I said, you don’t know that. We are first and foremost a Child of God. As a Christian we are to be, as St Paul wrote, Above reproach. Working hard and doing the right thing is part of that regardless of the color of your skin.

I learned from a therapist that “shoulding” all over myself is not helpful. I agree. Yes, I can procrastinate, be lazy and waste time, but being unkind to myself is my super power. I know I’m not the only one with this problem. I want to encourage all of us to strive to stop delivering ultimatums to ourselves. Let’s be kinder and more merciful to ourselves because when we lean into that kind of attitude we’ll be more loving to those around us.

This is Andy, my family’s dog. He’s a 16 year old Cavapoo who had a stroke last year & had a bad seizure 2 nights ago. We thought that was the end, but he recovered & been back to normal the last two days. I took this last night 🥰❤️❤️ Praying we have more good days with him!🙏🏼
