Let’s have some constructive criticism. First, this isn’t ₦500k–₦1M “salary”. Rather, a one-time gig, zero benefits, no guarantees of recurring income. All for work that exceeds full-time (7 days a week. No breaks.) And the math doesn’t add up: Let’s even break it down 👇🏾

I had a meeting with some Nigerian founders outside a few months ago, I answered all their questions and shared some of my previous works When it got to pricing, I confidently shared my rate, You won't believe the response I got 😂😂

Earlier this year, I got on a call with a UK fintech client for a website revamp. Quoted $1,500. He said no one will pay a Nigerian $1k for a landing page. So I shared my screen, opened my Contra. Showed him invoices. Silence. Then….“wow.”😂😂😂

Since you locked the comment section, I'll reply with a quote According to the original context, he mentioned living in Ibadan and expecting US salary, that's practically devaluing the freelancer's work (or at least, since he probably hasn't first-hand seen the freelancer's work). Now, you can decide (even office jobs) whether or not to take an offer or give an offer. That's totally dependent on your jurisdiction. If I were to be the one he was talking to, I'd practically tell him what his amount can do for him, else, he finds someone else. Now, to your question asking whether or not i have paid a staff 500k. If I see a staff, who worth it, I'd pay.. its all about negotiation.. not coming off to X to rant. Also, I'd like for you, as a Nigerian in Nigeria, to hire a Nigerian , living in Canada to do a job for you and you are to pay him/her in Nigerian rate. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

How much have you paid a staff Let’s start with that have you ever given someone 500k I am asking you direct and by the response we shall know the answer Let’s call the spade the spade

You are a wage thief. 1 million naira for 100 videos is about 10,000 per video o. And the person would still do content strategy and creative direction for you? Oleeeeeeeeeeee Extremely low, even by Nigerian freelancing standards

The issue isn’t clients. It’s that many Nigerians don’t believe they can charge $1k+ for a landing page. Meanwhile, others are charging $2k–$3k for the same thing. Same skill. Different mindset.

@just_andydev @codesbyseyi No. Its no devs thinking they don’t need to know code and can build apps. Prod is a different ball game

AI is building insecure apps and founders are paying for it. Literally. I just spent 10 hours debugging a client's AWS server. They got a $3000 bill because of a vulnerability AI introduced and never flagged. If you are running Next.js and Docker, do this right now. 1. Check if you are on Next.js below version 16.2.4 2. Confirm with your dev if your entire .env file is being passed to Next.js via Docker 3. Ask AI to scan your project for RSC vulnerabilities that allow attackers to access your nextjs server This is especially critical if AI built your project or you are vibe coding. LLMs are backdated. They do not always use the latest, most secure versions. If AI created your containers, ask it to check for RSC vulnerabilities immediately. If the vulnerability exists, rotate all your env files and consider taking the server down entirely. Everything on a compromised server should be treated as exposed. Do not wait.

Now, in the context, I'm a freelancer.. I decide how much i want to get paid, and if your offer doesn't stand with me, I'd give you a Google docs website (which is the amount your money can hold). I'd be sure to tell you that before starting anything. I CANNOT write codes and logic for someone who's looking to cut pay out and use the living daylight out of me

@codesbyseyi I believe you are a front end developer. This is what a Dev guy would earn in Nigeria compared to Canada. So if I am employing a dev guy and pay him 500k monthly is that being a bad employer

With all due respect.. you never talk wehtin dey do you How much would you have paid a Nigerian living in Canada to edit the "Short form" for you, talk more of a Canadian living in Canada. Because Nigerians price things at a globally cheap rate, you still want to take advantage and still underprice because he/she is living in Nigeria.. and you are a Nigerian yourself.. omo

Had the same experience. They tried to size me up until I mentioned working on fintech products with 20M US users. Their tone changed, came back on my terms, now they want me full-time. They also noticed I wasn't hungry, they've been saying thank you for creating time for them.🤣
