The skill is called programming, but often we spend most of our time debugging. To get better at debugging, we organized Debugging Contests - fun events to hone our debugging skills. If you want to know more, my colleague @amintos will talk about it @splashcon at 22:00 UTC!

I've seen a lot of people asking "why does everyone think Twitter is doomed?" As an SRE and sysadmin with 10+ years of industry experience, I wanted to write up a few scenarios that are real threats to the integrity of the bird site over the coming weeks.

@chrisma0 I liked the gitless.com idea of looking into the details of issues people have and redesigning the interface / concepts while preserving the core ideas :)

I mean, I really like git, but I think I have to agree somewhat. Also, we're using version control in various use cases (e.g. updating websites, deploying new versions) nowadays… "It should be […] specifically designed to be used by the wider community" changelog.com/posts/git-is-s…

Call for Invited Speakers! We're looking for a cool keynote to open the LIVE 2019 workshop at SPLASH in Athens - ideally someone likely to be attending SPLASH already. If you know (or are) someone with something fun to talk about related to live programming, please reply or DM.

@bryanrieger @stephanierieger So far I have been using it for 2 years for most of my daily email writing, todos, bibliography, writing articles/papers, organizing students. For me, part of it is also keeping the dream alive :)

+100! When it comes to decentralization, the perfect is increasingly the enemy of the good. Highly cooperative, and interoperable products with thoughtful options to privately store (ideally end to end encrypted) data if desired would suit a great many use cases.
Allen Wirfs-Brock@awbjs

Rather than pushing for fully distributed applications whose value is under appreciated by ordinary users perhaps we should be pushing towards more cooperative applications that interoperate nicely with each other. That has real user appreciable value.
