B@ndits Arrested In Ifelodun Claim They Allegedly Received AK-47 R+fles From Kwara State Officials Nigerian soldiers have apprehended a group of suspected b@ndits in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, who were found patrolling with AK-47 r+fles in a security vehicle. The suspects were intercepted during an army operation and taken into custody. In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the men were seen on the ground with their hands tied as soldiers questioned them about their activities and the source of the w£apons. One suspect, speaking in Hausa and Nigerian Pidgin, alleged that the vehicle and r+fles were provided by the Kwara State government. He claimed they had been conducting patrols under government directives for some time. The suspect insisted that the r+fles were collected by their superior, referred to as “our oga,” and not by the group themselves. He mentioned that several individuals, including “oga Victor,” were involved in obtaining the w£apons. Repeatedly, he swore that the rifles were not personally owned by the group. Other detainees were heard chanting religious phrases during the interrogation. As of this report, the Kwara State government and the Nigerian Army have not issued official statements regarding the arrest or the allegations.

This is abandonment. This is betrayal. Kwara State Government, you have failed us in the cruelest way. You were entrusted with lives, but all we see is death. You were entrusted with peace, but all we see is bloodshed. You were entrusted with responsibility, but all we see is silence. May God hold you fully accountable for every life lost under your watch in a cruel way. May every innocent soul taken in these attacks stand as a testimony against your failure. May the cries of the mothers, the tears of the fathers, and the pain of the communities reach the heavens and bring divine justice upon those who allowed this to happen, you and your government are failure, you’ll mourn, your family will be thrown into destruction except that you swing into action.

Those political parties and politicians criticising President Bola Tinubu for excessive foreign travel should note that the reason foreign capital inflow into Nigeria more than doubled to $6 billion in the first six months of 2024 and hit a record high at the end of last year is because of the international trips undertaken by the President and Vice President Kashim Shettima. For example, and please fact-check me: In the first quarter of 2023, before Asiwaju Tinubu was sworn in, foreign direct investment inflows into Nigeria were $1.1 billion. However, for the equivalent period in 2024, they were $3.4 billion. A more specific example is that after President Tinubu's November 17, 2024, visit to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the G20 Summit, a Brazilian firm, JBS of Brazil, announced a total $8 billion investment in Nigeria, beginning with an initial $2.5 billion to be invested in Ogun State. Considering the above, criticising the president for doing the needful amounts to ignorance of how the world of international business financing works. There is fierce competition for global investments, and countries whose leaders do not go out there to project their nations and make deals will not get any but the most exploitative foreign investment, if even that. Nigeria is open for business, and we need a leader who is the Chief Marketer of Brand Nigeria. So far, President Tinubu is doing a good job of that. We must not criticise just for the sake of criticising. These individuals and groups ought to understand the necessity for foreign travels by national leaders, especially in this era of the Trump Tariff War, where competition for a share of precious investments has been heightened.
