Post 1/2: In May, I was one of 10 parents appointed to the @KnoxSchools Special Education Task Force by our superintendent to provide recommendations to improve #specialeducation We presented to the school board on August 7. It’s unclear how they will proceed.

In case you’re unaware, the US is one just a few countries in the world without paid maternity leave. Maybe you’re lucky to work for a company that offers paid time, but many mothers don’t. 1/4 mothers return to work 2 weeks after birth.

The number of people asking why I’m still working at 9 months pregnant…do people not understand the awful situation that is maternity leave in our country?
