Just wanted to give a shoutout to @ConnerPohl. Been working with him for the last 4 years and couldn’t be more grateful for the countless hours he’s poured into me. I wouldn’t be even close to where I’m at now without him. Best there is around!! @cpohlinstruct

@AndersonLMiller Hard to emulate someone else with knowing NOTHING about their ENTIRE process and cues that goes into an everyday process. Be your own hitter.

This tweet is inspired by a conversation I just had with a division 1 player. He told me his coach wants him to mimick a former MLB players stance. Try it out for a week…. 😖(and of course it was side angle video w/ NO context) And this is why hitters are inaccurate & inconsistent. Because of coaching like this. It sounds good in theory but leads to trouble. Whatever move you have to make to get to your “hitting/launch position” You are going to have to make an equal and opposite move to get out of that position but at a faster speed because the ball is moving at you & you want to hit. So if you have to: “coil” “hinge” “get loaded” “Load the scap” “feel turn behind your front shoulder” You are going to have to fly out of that position even faster with less control and head movement and body movement in order to get out of there and back to the ball. Every move from your setup has an equal & opposite reaction to get back to the ball. Blows my mind that more coaches don’t understand the consequences of the “cues” & “feels” they are teaching to their hitters that lead to REAL problems & bad ball flight in the cage & a lot of outs in games.

The first and only thing parents should do before they take their kids for training lessons should be to look up the trainers history of playing. It’s astonishing to me how many parents just assume that because travel ball organizations have the space to train and it looks cool, that it’s the best place to train. People are being robbed for just reps. It’s gross.

It blows my mind what all these unqualified coaches charge for lessons. Does resume not matter anymore? We've got people out here that played in HS, kept stats on their college team, & never even sniffed pro ball, charging $60+ per hour. They haven't played or coached at a high level & they're out here robbing people. Make it make sense! 🤪

What does finding “peace in the process” mean? Succeeding at a high level in any sport is hard enough as it is. I think what needs to be understood is this: You’re always chasing your future self. Odds are, you’re never going to be as good as you know you can be or, can/will eventually be. Your presence in the present is required. Your thoughts, feels and emotions change day to day. Just like your cage sessions or throwing sessions aren’t the same, day to day. You’re going to suck one day and can be great the next. Future outcomes are not controllable. Finding peace in the process to me is this: If your preparation, mindset, routines, and work ethic were true to your values within the game, then you’re already “winning” before the first pitch is thrown. Be great!

Just heard a pretty cool line by one of the all time great philanthropists, Jameis Winston. “Pressure is for the unprepared” All jokes aside, I found this so insightful relative to baseball. When I think of pressure I immediately relate other words (Nervous and Expectation). Pressure, Nervous, Expectations are destroyers of confidence. And being in a state of flow within the game. When I think back to playing days, the confidence came from being prepared, working my tail off and trusting my process. For me, the pressure of expectations for myself relied on outcomes for myself. It took my mindset from a pitch to pitch mindset to expecting an outcome before the at bat had started. You’ll never know what the outcome will be. But one thing you do know is that you did everything you could to be in the best position possible to succeed. Find peace in the process.

@ZerkleSports @shegone03 Capabilities vs REPEAT-abilities. There’s a fine line between what you’re capable of and what’s sustainable enough to play in game. Hitting the ball a certain MPH doesn’t guarantee anything. Consistency in barrel turn and body positions play. Hitting for MPH… not so much.

@shegone03 Spoke to a WS champion that spent 10 years in the Show one time about exit velo…..”I get paid to get hits not hit the ball at a certain velo. My concern is exit hits not exit velo”

Haha! I definitely care about guys hitting the ball hard. I don’t like focusing on Exit Velocity however. Results are really all that matters. I’ll take a soft base hit over a 100 mph line out every time. #shegone
Kensuke Tanaka@kensuketanaka69

@shegone03 jeff, i cant believe youve swung the pendulum so far that you cant even care that guys hit the ball hard. since the beginning of time, people have taught bat speed and hitting hard line drives. you just dont like it when theres a number attached

This may ruffle some feathers but it’s 100% true… You don’t swing down OR up. It’s both. You don’t go forward OR stay back. It’s both. You stay back as you go forward. Have a good day. 😀
