Yaakub Ira Vijandre, 38, is a Filipino-American photojournalist, activist, and DACA recipient detained by ICE since October 2025 despite no criminal record, targeted over his pro-Palestine advocacy.
He documented protests and posted about Gaza. The government revoked his status over social media it claims “glorified terrorism,” and he has now been held in ICE detention for nearly six months.

now the wiki article being cited here is slightly wrong, because the letter “F” does not exist in our language. Prior to Manuel Quezon, it was always “Pilipino” with a “P” bc P exists in our language.

Siya → she/he
Niya → her/his
Sa kan’ya → to him/her
Anak → son/daughter
Kapatid → brother/sister
Masyadong sanay sa kultura niyong nakabase ang kasarian sa pagpapalit ng isa o iilang mga salita. Hindi gano’n dito.

The only reason 'Filipino' sounds masculine to you is because you are looking at it through a Romance or English lens. To us, it’s just a label for a person with no gender attached-
