@jamesrogersie James what is the precedent here for players not going on international duty and playing for their club instead? Are there rules around this? Presumably a players choice?

Dundalk will be without Vinnie Leonard, Eoin Kenny, Sean Spaight, TJ Molloy-Murray and possibly Luke Mulligan, who is currently on stand-by, for Friday's potential title decider against Finn Harps in Oriel Park due to international call-ups. Aside from the competitive element of the game itself in losing some players who would definitely have featured, it is absolutely 100% wrong that 4 or 5 lads who have been part of a squad working towards a goal all year could potentially miss the memory of a title win. While we all hope there are many memorable days ahead for each of them, nights like what next Friday could be don't come around very often and those players are effectively being punished for representing their country by missing out on a day that they might have discussed for the rest of their lives.

This adds further clarity to what was a correct decision at Turners Cross to disallow that "goal".

Conan’s spot on. Let’s call it what it is - cheating. If the ref had mistakenly given a penalty every one would be quick to berate him. Diving has become a scourge on the game and will only stop if it’s called out for what it is and the powers that be bring in retrospective bans
