Graham Platner is a 100% disabled veteran receiving VA benefits of $4,800 month that he himself says supplement his income because his oyster business “does not make much money.” He took over Waukeag Neck Oyster Co. in 2020, runs it with his wife and a partner, and has acknowledged selling oysters to Ironbound, a restaurant owned by Leslie Harlow his mother, and addition to limited local spots and private events. He’s not some struggling independent oysterman scraping by solely on the water. He comes from a privileged background: prep school, successful restaurateur mother, attorney father, prominent architect grandfather, and is now a Democratic Senate candidate backed by the party machine and national donors. His attacks on “billionaires sucking money out of rural Maine” ring hollow when his own livelihood relies heavily on government disability payments rather than a thriving private business.
Graham Platner for Senate@grahamformaine

America has ten times the billionaires today than we had in 1990. In rural Maine we have fewer schools, fewer hospitals, fewer young people who can ever hope to buy a home. Money has been sucked upward, out of our towns and into the pockets of the billionaire class.

Blaming everything on 'the billionaires' is just the dumbest slopulism on Earth. It's just lying to people, which I guess is pretty much the entire campaign.

Why is it so hard for you to say "Republicans?" Republicans are the reason we don't have healthcare; Democrats are the only reason we have made ANY progress at all. Guy has no problem shitting on Dems and Chuck Schumer, but no smoke for Republicans. What a great "Dem."
Graham Platner for Senate@grahamformaine

None of this is complicated. We can have decent healthcare for every American, a decent education for every child. In the richest country on Earth, the only thing that stands in our way is the billionaire class.

@harrisonjaime If you cared about fixing the house you’d leave politics. You are stupid, incompetent, and unpopular, you’re not capable of helping Dems win

Every damn day on this app I see folks who get more enjoyment out of pissing on their own house than actually building it, fixing it, and making it stronger. And yeah dammit it is f-ing exhausting.

one of the bizarre things i've noticed with centrist democrats is their refusal to even acknowledge the party is in disarray right now. chuck schumer just voted against 80 percent of his caucus in support of israel! that's not the left's fault!

The Bernie/Left people go out of their way to be absolute assholes to other Dems (rather than build bridges) and then when they get less than 50% of the vote, react even more belligerently and claim it was some "Establishment" conspiracy. Bernie 2020 was the perfect example of that. They just acted like they were owed all the Warren voters and did nothing to build any support beyond their 'base'.

I personally don’t respect any religion or faith bc faith (belief without proof) is obvious degeneracy and detrimental to human development individually and communally But I do respect people’s right to their religion and faith. Israel’s behavior is subhuman
Michael Haynes 🇻🇦@MLJHaynes

JUST IN: Cardinal Pizzaballa & Catholic leaders in Holy Land state their “profound indignation & unreserved condemnation of the desecration of a representation of Jesus Crucified by an Israeli soldier in a Lebanese village.” Pizzaballa adds: “This act constitutes a grave affront to the Christian faith and adds to other reported incidents of desecration of Christian symbols by IDF soldiers in southern Lebanon. It further reveals a disturbing failure in moral and human formation, wherein even the most elementary reverence for the sacred and for the dignity of others has been gravely compromised. The Assembly calls for immediate and decisive disciplinary action, a credible process of accountability, and clear assurances that such conduct will neither be tolerated nor repeated. Yet even in the face of such offense, the Cross remains unassailable in its meaning. As Saint Paul the Apostle declares, “far be it from me to glory except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Gal 6:14). For believers, the Cross endures as a source of dignity, hope, and redemption, and as a summons to overcome violence through sacrificial love. It is precisely in this light that the Church continues to proclaim that true peace cannot be born of violence, but must remain, in the words of Pope Leo XIV, “unarmed… a peace that calls to ‘put [the] sword back into its sheath.’” For this reason, the Assembly renews, with urgency, its call to bring to an end the war that has tormented this region for far too long, and to embrace a path where peace is witnessed in restraint, dialogue, responsibility, and reverence for the sacred and for every human life.”

@darbystintsert @PPagedown2012 @HotSotin @kaiser_kenny They voted to Putin, they paid tax to Putin. They could vote to Davankov 2024, or vote to Yavlinskiy 2018, but they didn't. If you think they have no choice, then they can move to EU or China, or join Ukraine army, but they didn't. Just like those in Hiroshima, not innocent

some libs have really had their minds and hearts destroyed by democratic leadership. "electability" is not the reason to vote for someone. why are you voting for someone you don't like, in a *primary* election?

@darbystintsert @PPagedown2012 @HotSotin @kaiser_kenny The Ukrainian people did not elect a government that invades other countries, their racists are not in power, but the Russians have done so many times. Their democratically elected governments have invaded Moldova, Georgia, and Ukraine. They also murdered thousands in Chechen

Two issues here: 1) Block The Bombs does have a partial embargo and that’s good but again @RoKhanna uses the J Street/Netanyahu-approved “funding” frame. The demand is **full embargo**, not just ending “aid”. don’t let this PR pivot become normalized -> therealnews.com/j-streets-mili…
This Week@ThisWeekABC

Following the Senate Democratic vote to halt military equipment sales to Israel, Rep. Ro Khanna addressed the party’s position: “We're a party that believes in two states in peace. But let me tell you what we're not for. We're not for aid to Israel. They've got a $45 billion defense budget. Why are we giving them money?” abcnews.com/Politics

Just immediately negotiating down your pro-m4a position to a “pro public option” position lol. Centrists can’t even imagine stuff without conceding to the right wing.
Stardust@tweetsfromstar

@GeorgyPorg5m9c Plenty of Dems support universal healthcare, I'm personally pro m4a or at the very least, pro public option. That's not why he's a tankie.
