I would imagine that Declan Rice would recognise the enormous fortune he has in life. I would also imagine that someone working in the NHS would recognise the enormous fortune they have to be living and working in a country filled with the freedoms it offers. My mum worked for the NHS for 40 years…never once belittled my challenging experiences as a pro golfer. My dad was a London cabbie for 55 years working 12 hours a day…never once patronises me when I share my experience about not getting a sport psych gig. The feeling of ‘pressure’ is personal, contextual, time-constrained, and not really within anyone’s control (no matter their status in life). If Declan Rice came on and said “This is the most pressure anyone can feel in any profession” then fine…but he’s been asked a question and he’s sharing what his world is like right now. That’s all! Thank you for working in our wonderful health service. Appreciate you mate 👍🏻

Should try being a nurse in a high intensity area..we do kms...we do 12hr shifts on a pitch...#nhs

“It’s SO hard…” Declan Rice responds to Thierry Henry’s question. They both know the toil and the toll of being involved in competition. The relentless pressure. The need to go again every day… High attention Optimal intensity High intent A High Performance Mindset (HPM) in every activity in every session every day. A nervous system yearning to drop to Low Performance Mindset (LPM), but a constant refusal to give-in to LPM. This is why I think shared mental models in sporting organisations (and Corporate ones too) are so important. This is why I use terms such as HPM…so the burden can be shared across the playing group, across the coaching staff, across departments, across the organisation as a whole. An all-in feel on HPM. People supporting each other in the search for excellence. People driving each other on with shared language and shared behaviours. People overcoming Individual exhaustion by helping each other drill intent. High attention Optimal intensity High intent We go again in activity after activity. Session after session. Day after day. And we help each other do so. My voice is an aid for you. My gestures lifting your actions. My instructions constant reminders of what you can do. HPM - all-in! Day after day after day…until we win the title… My new book, 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞, can help you create shared mental models around the mental side of the game you coach 𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟎% 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐰𝐤𝐬𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 buff.ly/tOCVDPw

@daveno7 I barely watch a whole game. Arsenal will win the league due to other sides recruitment being so terrible.

Newcastle were bloody terrible. So many of our Premier League sides just can't play out from the back without wilting under pressure.
