Australia’s tobacco policy is producing remarkable outcomes: • Less legal smoking • More illicit smoking • More nicotine consumption overall • Billions less in government revenue • Billions more for organised crime • Higher enforcement costs An estimated $10 billion per year in lost tax revenue - roughly the annual ‘cost’ of negative gearing or the capital gains tax discount. Investors 👎 Business owners 👎 Taxpayers 👎 Organised crime 👍

Holy moly. 80% illegal for tobacco.

Let's examine some of the polling data as it relates to migration to Australia. 45% of Australians think migration is "generally negative" for the country (Essential April 2026). 79% of Australians want net migration at a level of 100k per year or less, including 75% of migrants (Fox & Hedgehog March 2026). 60% of Australians say there are "too many migrants in Australia", including 59% of migrants (Fox & Hedgehog March 2026). This view is also held by a majority of non-citizens who have an opinion on the issue either way. Policymakers have made an absolute mess.

2am thoughts It makes me deeply sad to think to about the damage being done to the fabric of Australian society. Where once there was conceptual support for migration and outsiders becoming Australians, today some polls see a narrow majority seeing migration as a negative for society. It's worth making a distinction here, these individuals not only see the level of migration as untenable, but migration itself overall as a net negative. I can't help but think of some of the migrants I know, people who spent ~40 years on the tools, building homes, shops and infrastructure. For our policymakers to screw things up so badly that these hard working people who integrated into our society to be seen as a group that is a net negative is a shameful failure. The growing opposition to high migration and the damage being done economically and socially has been obvious for a long time for anyone willing to look for it. Honestly, if Canada and Britain are any guide, it may be too late to salvage broad based support for migration, that may take years if not decades to repair. But the time to start respecting the democratic will of the people is now, for the sake of all our future's.

My Facebook ban has been lifted. THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who helped - especially @mattjcan and @BillboardChris. I appreciate it so much. We have to be able to state the truth. Men are not women.

Today, I was given a permanent ban of posting on my Facebook page, @Meta. The page can exist - apparently - but I am not allowed to post on it anymore. The page has been deemed controversial due to the Giggle v Tickle case and increased popularity of 25,000 new followers in a week. I don't want to labor the irony of being banned on a social networking platform while fighting in court for the right to ban men from a woman only social networking platform, it is what it is. Frankly, I'd love to have the same right that you do, @Meta. Women are routinely punished for not accepting men as women. It doesn't turn those men into women. Nothing will.

Aussies pay 15% on income from $18-45k, and people earning less than $45k contribute around 2-3% of total income tax collected...the tax free threshold should be moved up to $45k! Would be incredibly helpful for people in their 20's just starting out.

"The bottom half of income earners in this country, pay only 3% of the (income) taxes" Why are lower-middle income earners being slugged with tax rates like 30% for every dollar you earn over AU$45k, when they actually don't contribute much to the pile of cash from income tax?
Shay Boloor@StockSavvyShay

Jeff Bezos said the bottom half of Americans should pay zero federal income tax. He cited a nurse in Queens making ~$75K and paying ~$12K in taxes saying “we shouldn’t be asking this nurse in Queens to send money to Washington.”

From the same outlet that pushed the fake poll 2 months ago, with 100% MAGA support for Trump, and 90% MAGA support for Iran war...now is running a 'buyers remorse' headline on the screen for the first 20 secs of this segment:
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Enten: "It's not just one poll. The five worst polls ever for any president on inflation, they all belong to Donald Trump and they have all occurred in the last month. What we're talking about here is the worst numbers ever. Joe Biden isn't in there. Jimmy Carter isn't in there."

Thing that makes me angry about the woeful budget position …. is that for most of our history Labor has hurt economy but then Libs come in and fix it. But that last bloody Liberal govt broke the pattern. Abbott initially tried but then gave up. Turnbull bad but then Scomo blew it all up over a flu. So then the Libs handed over a bad economy in 2022 to the guys who usually make it worse … and here we are.

I am absolutely devastated Men who claim to be women have more rights than actual women in Australia. It is women who are being discriminated against, not the men who claim to be us. But in a sense, nothing has changed: we will all wake up tomorrow & men will still not be women.

$42 billion for a battery, but nuclear energy is soooooo expensive it should stay illegal? You could build around 4 large reactors or 8 small modular reactors from the money spent on Snowy Hydro (based on even the CSIRO's numbers). One's legal, the other isn't.

Imagine your a leader of a nation, someone says, 15% of your goods economy is going to grind to a halt unless you pay whatever price you have to for oil Are you going to beg, borrow and steal whatever you need to pay ~$200 a barrel? Or do you let your economy fall off a cliff?

"While nations like Australia have the financial firepower to outbid developing countries that are net importers of jet fuel, if the crisis persists in the long term, bidding wars against other wealthy large net importer nations such as Germany, France, Britain and Switzerland, amongst others, are going to be a very different story." macrobusiness.com.au/2026/04/jet-fu…
