This is a port of Redis implementation, here’s an article describing the algorithm in more detail: antirez.com/news/75 I’ve added one little tweak from myself: for small sets (up to 1000) it can store the exact list of elements, which reduces the error in this range to 0.

Published yet another Nim library! This one is a HyperLogLog data structure implementation. It allows to estimate the number of unique elements in arbitrarily large sets, using just 12kb of memory. No dependencies, just a single Nim file :) github.com/deNULL/hyperlo… #nimlang

I decided not to stop there and ported yet another library called Pigo to Nim. It uses something called cascade binary classifiers to detect faces and facial landmarks on photos. I still don’t fully understand how that magic works, but here it is github.com/deNULL/facedet… #nimlang

It uses ideas from pHash.org and from this post: hackerfactor.com/blog/index.php… (and also a basic histogram hash for a good measure) For even better matching it would be nice to also implement SIFT/SURF. It would work much slower though.

Nim is a great language, however its community is still relatively small, so it lacks libraries for many tasks. For example, I wanted to use perceptual hashes to find duplicate images, and couldn’t find a good package for that. So I made my own: github.com/deNULL/percept… #nimlang

@amima В какой-то степени из эгоистических. Но уехать — это обменять одни проблемы на другие, не? Лично для меня бездействие всегда намного проще и удобнее, чем какие бы то ни было активные действия. Особенно такие, которые имеют длящиеся последствия вроде нахождения в другой стрнане.

@SketchpunkLabs It's actually the same algorithm :) Once you've reached some predefined area you do the same on the smaller scale — and now you have buildings instead of regions. After that you can just delete inner polygons (which are not touching any sides of the region), and that's it.

@denullru thanks for the info. Also curious how you went about placing "building" in all the subdivided polygons? Is there a particular algorithm for that sort of thing?

Tried following in @watawatabou footsteps by generating road networks using slightly modified polygon bisection algorithm. Looks promising so far!

@SketchpunkLabs Well, personally I based it just on this tweet twitter.com/watawatabou/st… and this Patreon post: patreon.com/posts/49191011. The base idea is not too complicated, it's just splitting polygons in halves over and over again.

@max_katz Беда в том, что негатив ко всем русским у украинцев конечно теперь есть (и пропагандисты на нём играют). Только негатив этот вполне ожидаемый, созданный самой Россией. Странно ожидать, что многие станут любить тот народ, войска которого пришли в их страну и бомбят города :(

А что там дальше? Дальше там «народ-нацист». Дальше все украинцы должны в российском телевизоре стать нацистами. Денацификация дальше это просто борьба с украинцами по этническому признаку. И текущие выступления Симоньян — это начало именно этой пропаганды

Российская пропаганда потихоньку начинает готовить основания к массовым убийствам украинцев. Теперь там «нацисты» не отдельные отряды, а уже типа массово весь народ. Это новая риторика, которой в перспективе могут оправдывать этнические чистки и оружие массового поражения
