Phew, it's been a huge amount of work for the whole team, but the day is finally here: #Dorico6 is out in the world, and we're looking forward to hearing what everybody thinks about the new version. It's absolutely packed with useful new things. Please take a look!

@DanCJeffries @MakeMusicInc @finaleofficial Not annoying at all. Thanks Dan - just sad that something I've used since I was 16 is now useless, and their devs thought it an improvement to remove something vital. I'll look into @doricoofficial - Sibelius never appealed (until now, anyway....)

Tech question of no interest to anyone except Finale users: did anyone ever get the clunky Rewire method to work smoothly for syncing video? Finale ditching its 'Movie Window' made NO SENSE. Must I learn Sibelius (after using Finale since v1)? @MakeMusicInc @finaleofficial

@Bent6 No easy way to do this by default, I'm afraid, but it's not a bad idea – I'll make a note of it and perhaps we can add it as a preference for the future.

@dspreadbury Quick Dorico 5 question. Is there a way to globally disable printing in color? I have to go through chart by chart and turn it off to avoid expensive print charges at my school.

@JenniPinnock @doricoofficial I always think of tempos around 72 bpm as "heartbeat" music, the kind of tempo at which lots of Renaissance choral music is performed. I probably sketched that tempo when we were working on the initial mock-ups and @anthughes probably followed suit – but I can't remember!

A curious question from someone who is clearly spending too much time with @doricoofficial at the moment - why is the tempo popover/panel icon crotchet = 72 ? A particular favourite tempo with the developers? @dspreadbury

@bzgoldman Have just bought an upgrade to Unite 5 and disappointed to find it's not working well: errors related to icons, crashing when launching created apps. Can't find how to contact support via the bzgapps.com site – how do I get help?

We wanted to take a moment to celebrate some of the unique and powerful things we've built into Dorico. It's easy to overlook things when they're not brand new, and some of these features have been there for years. We also could easily have chosen 50 unique features!

@chriskrycho @doricoofficial Since that Summer Sale message, we’ve added an explicit expiry date to these messages so that they shouldn’t appear after the end of the relevant sales promotion. Sorry that you happened to see this one today! Hopefully you won’t see this kind of thing again in future.

@doricoofficial @dspreadbury Making the bug report possibly more useful: Notably, app also launched in SE mode, so the license check seems to have failed (relaunching solved it).

Well, here’s a quirky one for @doricoofficial (heeeey @dspreadbury—I launched Dorico on my Mac just now and got this pop-up. 😂 Dear Steinberg marketing pop-over: you’re late.

@Ray_Phenicie @_Ian_Lewis @MusicOfLee You can import and export MIDI and MusicXML between Cubase and Dorico just fine – have you had any specific problems? Let me know, I’d be happy to help.

@_Ian_Lewis @MusicOfLee Steinberg did pretty good with Cubase-the built-in scoring software is o.k. Odd however that Steinberg's much touted notation software Dorico and Cubase, don't interchange midi or music xml files at all.

The DAW vs standard notation debate is the biggest debate that really isn't a debate. Bottom line: Learn both.
