It’s a very long time since I read Nineteen Eighty-Four and I don’t remember this bit. But it’s something feminists need to face up to, in my view. From ignoring or diminishing the rape and murder of Jewish women on Oct 7, to castigating a 12-year-old Scottish girl trying to defend herself to calling for men to be allowed into women-only spaces, feminism needs to examine why so many women won’t defend other women.
