I had an accident. I was travelling to Lagos from Ibadan to go see my cousin. I left IB with another cousin (Adetutu). We boarded the same bus and sat at the 2nd to the last seat.
It was a bus of 13 passengers. The driver came into a collision with an oncoming trailer while overtaking one. And that was it, boom!
Everywhere became silent and dark, and the next minute people were shouting and crying.
We were helped out of the bus. Dead people lay beside me on the express. I looked around and finally saw my cousin standing. She was in shock, and I started laughing as blood was dripping from my forehead due to a glass cut that was very deep. I was laughing. Bystanders thought I was running mad. But I was laughing because I was happy to see my cousin alive with no injury or anything.
I tried standing up to go meet her, and I felt a sharp pain that made me shout and cry. I had suffered from a hip dislocation.
That very evening, eight people died on the spot, and the driver later died at the hospital later that night.
Making it nine people who died in that accident.
Only 4 of us survived- myself, my cousin, a man who sat behind us, and the guy who sat beside the driver ( he had to go into surgery that night because he sustained a fatal injury to his head).
Healing of the hip was another hurdle. I was bedridden for over a month, and after getting back on my feet, was another struggle on its own. But all glory to God and my mum ❤️
Out of the 13 passengers that left Ib, nine died!
My friends and people around me started saying, “Truly, I’m Emmanuel.”
