The greatest crime of BFA was it making people so mad that they gaslit themselves into paying the same price for expansions with half the story content and being okay with it Blizz cutting their narrative work in HALF post-BFA doesn’t get shit on nearly enough

housing is too cozycoded yeah thats the issue the game is too cozy it has no bite the aesthetics are soft and edgeless and the future looks bleak everything is family and love and light and hope and if thats all you got you can never make a garrosh or a deathwing or an arthas

@Laganish Ultimately, these stories don't work because the writers clearly don't ask how characters or groups might react to events. They write a plot that has no regard for emotions, enslave the cast to it and then try to pretend it's emotional. And players see right through it.

@Laganish How we got here is long, but I'd ultimately blame it on them still being terrified of ever writing Teldrassil again. Any potential loss means another Teldrassil, so we're stuck in a saccharine loop of positivity and apathy. So afraid of risk that nothing happens.

@valarynn @talenthiel So much could be said about the compartmentalization of how WoW is made is pervasive to all its modern issues, but one of the more jarring is seeing the 2006 belf kids walk around knowing that random high res haranir kids have as much quest focus as the finale of the elf story.

I like that the entire justification for why we needed elven armies was because "they know how magic wells work" and then what actually happens is that they leave and come back later with stuff to fix the magic well, so there was never any need for their armies. Incredible stuff

The recent explicit push of WoW as home is coinciding with WoW as a fantasy setting becoming less and less enticing to want to spend time in.

I doubly like that said justification is never actually offered in-game, it's something people came up with to defend the decision, because the plot now requires you to essentially make up half the dialogue and events in your head to make sense. Incredible stuff!
