Hey everyone, we encountered an unexpected issue during our maintenance and we need to extend downtime at least 8 additional hours.

even with scammy, off-chain CEX behavior,
we cannot overstate how valuable public chains were at exposing FTX/Alameda’s fraud
no one could find the cold wallet, they wouldn’t disclose it (doesn’t exist?), and they couldn’t hide Alameda topping off the FTX hot wallet

Here's the info on SEC recommendations for crypto. This was originally made in 2017. Most of crypto fails these stipulations. The SEC expects all crypto businesses/projects to register with the agency & let them know what they are up to. Few know this.

SEC was already calling crypto a security back in 2017. What they should be doing is allow a broad classification of digital assets to fall into several categories - Securities, Commodities, Utility tokens & Stablecoins. Instead SEC is using ancient laws to govern new tech.
