You know what’s crazy here? He didn’t realize that he was being profiled because of his West African features, and, to some extent, his dark skin. Instead, he saw himself as special and unaffected by the xenophobia, as “Nigerians are the problem.” You people will learn.

I went to Johannesburg for holidays. Kept seeing people watch me in odd way sometimes. Then one time one of the hotel cleaners asked if I was Nigerian. I said no. They said I looked like one and advised I keep my passport on me anytime to avoid being profiled as one and being in trouble.

@PhilNnamdi_ @itzmagani @mrsassain The incident with the Liberian boy was very sad, but a majority of Ghanaians condemn it, the perpetrators were arrested as well. I would never compare Ghanaians to SAns. The hostility against foreigners in SA is sometimes backed by their high-ranking officials.

People don’t even fact check anymore. Random accounts can post dangerous and misleading information to instigate violence against innocent groups, and people just run with it. This has to change, it’s become too easy to manipulate people.
