It used to be possible to live in a parallel reality in Israel in which the systematic persecution of Palestinians was hidden. The state was designed to hide oppression from those who didnt want to see it. The death penalty law is the latest nail in the coffin of that old world.

You lie, @MarkGoldfeder. The law is directed at Palestinians under occupation alone. It is triggered by a "conviction" stemming from a military court system that does not follow evidentiary and procedural laws. It is not triggered by conduct. You lie and gaslight.

The entire army was aware of this battalion’s conduct and, for a long time, chose to cover it up. Everyone knew about a series of violent attacks, looting, and abuse, but since it didn’t appear on CNN, they pretended everything was fine. This problem does not begin and end at the level of the battalion, it stems from the entire system of the occupation.
