What we call “modern” and “enlightened” systems were shaped by European ancestors to fit their own realities. Today their descendants modernised, refined and formalised what already works for them. While we copy and paste something that simply isn’t meant for this continent. Real progress begins when we stop viewing our own ancestors as backward, and instead modernise and formalise what they built to suit our realities.
