The only point where we would start to have an opinion is if one driver is mathematically incapable now of winning a championship and the other driver is in a fight with a third party driver, at that point, the team has a right to an opinion, but up until that point we just want both our players to be right up there every single race" "Because our main championship, weirdly, is not the Drivers' championship, it's the constructors' championship. If we're lucky enough to win a bonus, we win it on the basis of the Constructors position, not the drivers, we don't get anything for that. So everything we care about is Constructors oriented and favouritism makes zero sense to us in that respect. We just want maximum points from both the drivers at all times"

【Monaco GP – RUS Pit Lane Penalty Timeline】 1. RUS entered the pit lane with the speed limiter engaged, yet was still penalized for speeding by 0.1 km/h. He immediately questioned the decision. 2. At the time, he had built a gap of around 15 seconds to the car behind. Even with a 5-second penalty, he would not have lost position. However, the team failed to serve the penalty during his pit stop. 3. To avoid a more severe penalty, RUS suggested taking another 5-second penalty, similar to what Yuki had done previously. However, the engineer never clearly explained the situation and instead gave vague responses that led RUS to believe the issue had already been dealt with, costing him his last opportunity to correct it himself. Toto also responded over the radio that they would discuss it later. 4.Facing the possibility of a Drive Through penalty, RUS personally approached the FIA during the red flag period. He argued that multiple drivers receiving speeding penalties under the same circumstances indicated something was clearly wrong and asked them to reconsider. Not a single Mercedes representative accompanied him. 5. The Drive Through penalty was ultimately confirmed. RUS dropped from P3 to P13 and finished the race without scoring any points. 6.Mercedes did not immediately appeal the decision. They also failed to attend the hearing related to Alpine’s appeal. Of the 11 teams, only Mercedes and Williams Racing were absent, and Williams did not even have a driver affected by the penalty. 7.After Pierre Gasly regained P3, Toto publicly stated that Mercedes would seek legal advice. By this point, Red Bull Racing⁠ and McLaren Racing⁠ had already filed appeals. 8.Mercedes then formally appealed the penalty imposed on RUS. The FIA accepted the appeal and scheduled a hearing for Saturday. 9.Mercedes ultimately withdrew the appeal before the hearing took place.
