@JFreshHockey Flyers letting us clinch in 23-24 and now eliminating us in 25-26. Tbf I dont think we would’ve been swept this year by any means. Offense was abysmal.

Caps will miss the Stanley Cup playoffs as Flyers win in a shootout vs. Carolina. Bitter ending. Their +18 goal differential (pending tomorrow's finale) would tie for biggest + margin to miss since 2009. Vegas also missed in 2022 at +18.

@CapsChirp Leno been on 40 goal pace since the start of March. Full season of Lil Pro and Hutson along with Cristall possibly making it. We still need a scoring winger and another RD, but this team is set up for success.

@AllenCaps1995 Agree, PLD, Ilya, and Sourdif as a 123 center combo is elite if Ilya turns into what we expect him to be. Sourdif is simply too good to play 4C. Feel like he’s the odd one out especially after this year.

@FrenettMarco @OVECHKlN He certainly can now, but I don’t think those same numbers would hold up in a sheltered role. Would love to be proven wrong, but the team is becoming more youthful and we can’t cook our prospects forever.

for me the ideal plan would be that caps strengthen the roster with the mindset that ovi isn't on it next season but ovi signs for cheap and hopefully accepts a slightly lesser role + focuses training on remaining able to keep up with nhl speed.

@JFreshHockey He has had plenty of time to build a playoff caliber team and if a team is easily choking down the stretch then it’s pretty safe to say they aren’t good enough. Longest active playoff drought if i’m not mistaken and that is ample time to tear it down and build a team that can win

obviously none of you care about my take here but I don't get this. the expectation for this roster entering the season was 85 points. at the Olympic break they were 23rd in 5v5 goal and xgoal share. the help at the deadline was trading a 1st to build a crummy second pair

People are blaming Yzerman when the team he built this year was genuinely decent, and they earned their place at the Olympic break. Then he gave them some help at the deadline. But the game is played on the ice and the players themselves blew it
