And intensified during the Iran-Iraq War (1980–1988), when Saudi Arabia provided significant financial and logistical support to Saddam Hussein. And it was in the early 2000’s Saudi leaders expressed private and growing concerns about Iran’s nuclear program and regional influence. The main driver has been the Saudi’s. In fact .. the Saudi Arabia and other nations have actually been pondering the possibility of nuke arms. The last thing on earth you want is a nuclear armed Middle East. Just solely based on the differences of opinion and belief in religion. It’s a continuous powder keg. Israel gets a lot of heat for Iran. In reality it’s Saudi Arabia in their allies in the region.

@e_keels @Zagonel85 The gulf states participated in the attacks on Iran by allowing the US to launch strikes from their territory. In international law this makes them a participant. Prior to the war Iran warned everyone concerned that they would retaliate against all concerned.
