Nothing worse than TIFF time, cause ppl will ask you “you going to TIFF?” when they really mean, “can you get me into anything at TIFF?”

Hosting first test screening of my latest cut of my first feature. Naturally I woke up at 4am because you know, nerves. Oh boy. But I don’t hate this feeling. Just gotta remember to breathe…

1/ Over the 2 years, I had the great honour of serving on @VPL's board. A few days ago, my service ended abruptly. Vancouver city council kicked me off the board and replaced me with a political crony. This never happens. City councils usually reappoint sitting trustees. #vanpoli

Yes we haven’t yet delivered a new bike lane in Stanley Park on the timeline that we originally thought would work, but we remain committed to delivering the replacement of this bike lane as soon as possible. Nonetheless we’ll continue to be the champions for new safe and accessible active transportation infrastructure. 🚲🚴‍♂️🚴🏻‍♀️🧑‍🦼👩🏻‍🦽🛴
Justin McElroy@j_mcelroy

Spoke with councillor Klassen on his 2022 (and 2023) pledge, after the park board confirmed on Monday there would be no bike lane for 2024. “You should never overpromise on things, and in this case, I clearly overpromised.”

if you own a $2m home, a “punishing” 9% property tax increase would be $485/year. if you rent an average 1-bedroom for $2,800, the 2% allowable rent for 2023 increase is $672/year.
Global BC@GlobalBC

As Vancouver seeks to avoid years of punishing property tax increases, councillors are now looking at fee hikes for everything from parking permits to business licences to the cost of owning a pet. trib.al/Ge2ds0m

They’re satisfied repurposing/repackaging/approximating to maximize their “opportunities.” But the vitality is discovered in the dead ends, the unanswered questions, the exploration. You discover an artistic voice by creativity workarounds for the things you *can’t* do.

It seems *many* people who engage in creative endeavors are actually just widget makers. And they’re usually friends with widget buyers. And they’re borrowing the language of art to sell shit. That’s why AI is existential - because most people don’t realize the EFFORT is the art
