If you see anyone using official DoD branding (INCLUDING the insignia of specific service branches) on their account, they are either: A. Illegally using those symbols, which would make them subject to disciplinary/legal action, or B. Operating with the consent/approval/endorsement of the DoD, explicitly or otherwise Either way, if they're: - Posting thinly-veiled recruitment videos with titles like "Why Should YOU Enlist In The Navy?" - Personifying the military as an approachable, friendly character - Trying to promote service by acting as outreach to potential enlistees (cough cough 18-24yo male demographic) - Promoting military service as a net positive Then they are doing PROPAGANDA. "Uncle Sam Wants YOU!" posters, those recruiters in your high school guidance counselor's office, military e-sports teams, sexy military tiktok influencers, military-themed vtubers - these are ALL forms of propaganda and should be recognized as such. Propaganda doesn't have to be state-sanctioned or even intentional. Hell, you can even AGREE with whatever is being propagandized - I, myself, technically engage in propaganda whenever I say things like "workers should have more control over their own lives", "LGBTQ people are cool", "building a guillotine is a fun weekend craft project", etc - but ALL OF IT is, technically, propaganda! Be aware!
