A chefa do departamento, Kristi Sweet, aconselhou Peterson a retirar a obra O Banquete, de Platão, ou retirar trechos sobre questões de raça e gênero. Pilar do pensamento ocidental, O Banquete, foi mais um livro a sofrer as novas ordens curriculares que dizem que nenhum curso deve “promover ideologia racial ou de gênero, ou tópicos relacionados à orientação sexual ou identidade de gênero”. Os excertos de O Banquete que teriam causado desconforto à direção da universidade incluem, de um lado, o mito narrado por Aristófanes, origem da expressão “cara-metade”, no qual se afirma que a humanidade primitiva se dividia em três gêneros: masculino, feminino e andrógino. De outro, o momento em que a sacerdotisa Diotima expõe as etapas do amor, conduzindo-o progressivamente à transcendência. @nicholas_whaley I must add: TOS gave me the sense of wonder, SW the absolute thrill, but Galactica gave me the sense of epic. The great journey for survival, fuelled with hope, and the connection w/ the "astronaut gods" theory (too bad it is a scam!).
