While I was living in Abule Egba around 2018, returning home late one night at about 11 p.m. As I drove down a narrow street, Santos inward Agbe road, I ran into a large group of Awawa boys raiding from Agege towards my area. They had already stopped several cars ahead of me, collecting phones, breaking windshields, and even robbing pedestrians. I knew I had nowhere to turn, as I was already driving straight toward them. So I quickly rolled down all my windows, switched my music from Wizkid to Pasuma, Napoli like Lagos, pull off my shirt, and started singing and dancing as I approached them. When they got to me, I threw in some heavy NURTW slang, “Omo Oba, Kosi Eru le o!” Instead of attacking me, they escorted me safely to my estate. That’s how I escaped what could have been a robbery. Sometimes, survival is street OT and quick thinking.

@DurojaiyeSegun I went to write the JAMB exam in a community, every hotel was fully booked. When I got to the last hotel and found it was also full, I sat at the bar with some other students and ordered the barman to give everyone drinks on my bill. That was how I managed to get a room to sleep
