in january 2023 i met dom from icp (who is by far the most vapid, insufferable and deluded narcissist i have ever met, and that's a tough competition after spending almost 4 years in crypto) and i shared with him what we're planning to build (zero trust, massively decentralized, sub second latency mpc)
he told me that we will soon realize that the "math is impossible" and there's no way to do that, and showed me some btc vault they were building at the time
i told him that we already achieved some of the cryptography breakthroughs that actually make it possible for the first time, and are on track to achieve more, and explained the early design we had in mind for what would eventually become 2pc-mpc
he paused for a moment and immediately went on a 10 minute rant on how if we do something good in crypto they will gang up against us and fuck us over and that's what they did to him and you can never succeed with real technology so we should just give up now
i still don't know who tf are "they" but this dude has been sooooo salty back then, and he's still salty now. probably because when i met him icp was down 99% from its launch day ath in may 2021, and now almost 3 years later it's down even more
icp was and still is home to some really amazing technical people, many left but many high quality technical devs and researchers are still there. and although dom wishes he was, he's absolutely not one of those people, just larping as "chief scientist"
and really the sheer audacity has always amazed me - calling yourself a chief scientist with people like jan camenisch, bjorn tackmann, yvonne-anne pignolet, jens groth, victor shoup, andrea cerulli, maria dubovitskaya, manu drijvers, timo hanke, hai liu, mahnush movahedi, ben lynn, andreas rossberg and so many other world class (REAL!) scientists who were or still are on the team - while your entire resume is literally creating a game for kids called fight my monster... scientists with over 100k cumulative citations, who invented things like bls signatures, snarks, webassembly, yet their "chief scientist" doesn't even have a page on google scholar
anyone who ever met dom (and many who haven't) knows he's a joke, and if you want to have a good laugh you'll be able to find this clown these days spewing nonsense on the timeline saying things like applications on icp are "immune" to cyberattacks lol
