This is absolutely horrific.
We are truly going backwards when it comes to games preservation, ownership, and continued access.
There's a lawsuit waiting to happen here. An online license check every 30 days?
I hate to say it, but physical games remain absolutely vital.

Hugely terrible DRM has now been rolled out to all PS4 and PS5 digital games. Every digital game you buy now requires an online check-in every 30 days. If you buy a digital game and don't connect your console to the internet for 30 days, your license will be removed.

Playstation has rolled out DRM on PS4/PS5 Digital games requiring online check-in every 30 days
Newly purchased digital games now need to connect to PlayStation Network every 30 days to verify the license.
If the console stays offline for more than 30 days, the game may stop working until an internet connection is made.
Games you already owned before this change are not affected.

He's blurring the lines on purpose by using AI as a catch all term because he knows people aren't that educated on the topic, they see the term "AI" and flip out. Video game companies, film makers, artists, etc, have used AI and ML for years and years, this isn't new, but these tools used to help creatives are worlds apart from the forms of Generative AI and other forms of unethical ML we see trying to be sold to us today. That's what he's doing, he's trying to normalise the slop by mixing it in with everything else to shut down dissent by suggesting everyone does it, its not true.

For people wondering why this keeps happening, its because they can’t get funding for their own projects and instead become show runners of established IP’s that the money people are far more likely to take a risk on. Then they use the trojan horse of an established IP to do more of their own thing that they originally wanted to do, they see themselves as superior to the creators/writers of the original. This is especially true with video games, but look at The Witcher as an example.

Noah Hawley says his ‘FAR CRY’ series won’t be adapting any of the games as he thinks audiences skip the story cutscenes in those games. “When you play a video game, you only really move forward through the gameplay section, and then you have these cut scenes that you can skip, so when you go to adapt those games you have to be aware that makes the human drama kind of irrelevant to the storyline.” (Source: Deadline)
