While the coverage was appreciated, it is important that normalcy returns for all residents. I am pleased to state that the dispute has now been resolved through dialogue and cooperation. The white patti that was at the center of the disagreement has been removed, and the affected area has been restored and repainted to its original condition. The matter has therefore reached a satisfactory conclusion. I believe that when a dispute is resolved peacefully and constructively, it is equally important to know when to close the chapter and move forward. In the interest of maintaining harmony, respecting the privacy of residents, and allowing the society to function normally, I consider this issue closed. “Taking control over us” who exactly? If one painted white strip makes you believe Jains and Gujaratis are taking over Mumbai, that is not a fight against injustice. That is insecurity being sold as activism. The real issues of Marathi people are jobs, education, business, housing, skills and financial progress. But instead of talking about that, people are being taught to blame Jains, Gujaratis and other communities. Mumbai belongs to Marathi people, yes. But it does not belong only to Marathi people. Mumbai was built by Kolis, Marathi mill workers, Gujarati traders, Jain entrepreneurs, Marwari financiers, Parsi industrialists, Muslim artisans, South Indian professionals, North Indian workers and many others. Stop treating someone else’s success as your oppression. They moved ahead because they supported each other, gave capital, created networks and built institutions. We should learn from that, not hate them for it. Marathi asmita does not mean hatred for others. It means making our own people stronger. Don’t direct your anger at Jains or Gujaratis. Direct it at the real reasons why our own people are falling behind. That is where the actual awakening is needed.

Absolutely. Jains have been one of the most peaceful, disciplined and economically productive communities in India, and Mumbai is a perfect example of that. Jains are not some new “outsiders” in Mumbai. Many Jain, Gujarati, Marwari and other trading communities have been part of Mumbai’s commercial life for generations. Long before today’s political shouting matches, these communities were building businesses, creating jobs, supporting markets, contributing to trade, paying taxes and helping Mumbai grow into India’s financial capital. Their contribution is not limited to business either. Jains and similar mercantile communities have built schools, colleges, charitable hospitals, hostels, trusts, gaushalas, food charities and community institutions. Many of these institutions have helped people beyond their own community too. That is real social contribution, not just empty slogan-baazi. The reason Jains progressed is simple. They focused on education, discipline, savings, business, family values, networking and community support. They helped each other with capital, references and opportunities. They built systems instead of constantly playing victim. And that is exactly why some people resent them today. Instead of learning from their success, they attack them. Instead of asking “what did this community do right?”, they ask “why are they ahead of us?” That mindset will never create progress. The sad part is that some influencers and political opportunists are now using this resentment for their own benefit. One wants relevance, one wants views, one wants a ticket to some reality show, one wants votes, and one wants to become a local hero. For their personal agenda, they are ready to divide society and create hatred against peaceful communities. Mumbai did not become Mumbai because of one community alone. It became Mumbai because of coexistence. Marathi workers, Koli people, Gujaratis, Jains, Marwaris, Parsis, South Indians, North Indians, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and many others contributed in their own way. Remove this coexistence and Mumbai loses its soul. Jains are not the problem. The problem is the insecurity of those who cannot digest another community’s success. If a peaceful, hardworking, tax-paying, job-creating community looks like a threat to you, then the issue is not with that community. The issue is with your own mindset.

लोक काय म्हणतील यापेक्षा इतिहास काय सांगतो, याचाच विचार केला पाहिजे. आणि इतिहास सांगतो की मुंबई कधीच एका समाजाची खासगी मालमत्ता नव्हती, नाही आणि होऊही शकत नाही. मुंबई घडली ती सहअस्तित्वातून. कोळी बांधव, मराठी कामगार, गिरणी कामगार, गुजराती व्यापारी, जैन उद्योजक, मारवाडी वित्तपुरवठादार, पारसी उद्योगपती, दक्षिण भारतीय व्यावसायिक, उत्तर भारतीय कामगार, मुस्लिम कारागीर, ख्रिश्चन शैक्षणिक संस्था, शीख व्यापारी, अशा अनेक समाजांच्या घामातून मुंबई उभी राहिली आहे. एका समाजाने संपूर्ण मुंबई घडवली असा दावा हा इतिहास नाही, तो फक्त राजकीय अहंकार आहे. १९६० पूर्वी महाराष्ट्र आणि गुजरात वेगळे राज्य नव्हते. दोन्ही संयुक्त बॉम्बे स्टेटचा भाग होते. मुंबई त्या काळातही व्यापार, उद्योग, बंदर, कापड गिरण्या, शेअर बाजार, सिनेमा आणि स्थलांतराचे केंद्र होती. त्यामुळे गुजराती, जैन, मारवाडी, पारसी आणि इतर व्यापारी समाज इथे काल-परवा आलेले नाहीत. अनेक समाज मुंबईत १८५० पासून आणि त्याही आधीपासून आहेत. फक्त नंतर राज्यांची सीमा आखली गेली आणि मुंबई महाराष्ट्रात आली म्हणून इथे पिढ्यानपिढ्या राहणारे लोक अचानक “बाहेरचे” होत नाहीत. हे लॉजिक असेल तर मग भारत नावाचा देश ठेवायचाच कशाला? प्रत्येक राज्य वेगळा देशच झाला असता. भारतीय संविधानाने प्रत्येक नागरिकाला देशात कुठेही राहण्याचा, काम करण्याचा आणि प्रगती करण्याचा अधिकार दिला आहे. हेही लक्षात ठेवा की मुंबईत अनेक गुजराती, जैन, मारवाडी, पारसी कुटुंबे अनेक तथाकथित “मूळ” म्हणवणाऱ्या नंतर आलेल्या स्थलांतरित मराठी कामगारांपेक्षा आधीपासून राहात आहेत. मग “कोण आधी आलं” हा खेळ खेळायचा असेल तर अनेक गैरमराठी समाजांची दावेदारीही खूप जुनी निघेल. म्हणून शहरं रक्तरेषांनी नाही, योगदानाने मोजली जातात. मुंबई आर्थिक राजधानी बनली ती फक्त भावनिक घोषणांनी नाही. ती बनली उद्योग, व्यापार, भांडवल, वित्तव्यवस्था, बंदर, बाजारपेठा, शेअर बाजार, बँकिंग, सिनेमा, सेवा क्षेत्र, रिअल इस्टेट, शिक्षण आणि आरोग्य संस्थांमुळे. यामध्ये गुजराती, जैन, मारवाडी, पारसी आणि इतर समाजांचे योगदान प्रचंड आहे. त्यांनी उद्योग उभे केले, रोजगार दिले, पैसा फिरवला, बाजारपेठा वाढवल्या, धर्मादाय हॉस्पिटल्स, शाळा, कॉलेज, ट्रस्ट, वसतिगृहे आणि समाजसेवी संस्था उभ्या केल्या. हे योगदान पुसून टाकून मुंबईचा इतिहास पूर्ण होत नाही. आज मुंबईत येणारा भांडवल प्रवाह, गुंतवणूक, उद्योग आणि व्यापार टिकवायचा असेल तर “मुंबई फक्त आमची” अशी भाषिक दादागिरी चालणार नाही. पैसा तिथे जातो जिथे स्थैर्य, कायदा, सुरक्षितता आणि व्यावसायिक वातावरण असतं. रोज उद्योगपती, व्यापारी आणि गुंतवणूकदारांना “बाहेरचे” म्हणत राहिलात तर उद्या भांडवल दुसऱ्या शहरात जाईल, आणि नुकसान सर्वात आधी सामान्य मराठी माणसाचंच होईल. बॉलीवूड म्हणजे भारताचा हिंदी सिनेमा उद्योग आहे आणि त्यात उत्तर भारतीय, पंजाबी, मुस्लिम, गुजराती, मराठी, दक्षिण भारतीय सगळ्यांचा सहभाग आहे. मग उद्या म्हणायचं का की हिंदी सिनेमा मुंबईत का आहे? उत्तर भारतीय कलाकार, लेखक, दिग्दर्शक, निर्माता इथे का आहेत? अशीच संकुचित मानसिकता ठेवली तर मुंबईचं जागतिक स्वरूपच संपेल. मराठी माणसाने इतरांच्या प्रगतीवर जळण्यापेक्षा स्वतःच्या प्रगतीवर लक्ष द्यायला हवं. प्रत्येक अपयशासाठी गुजराती, जैन, मारवाडी किंवा इतर समाजांना दोष देणं ही सर्वात घातक सवय आहे. त्यामुळे स्वतःची चूक दिसत नाही, सुधारणा होत नाही आणि समाज अजून मागे राहतो. इतर समाज पुढे गेले कारण त्यांनी एकमेकांना मदत केली, भांडवल दिलं, नेटवर्क तयार केलं, व्यवसायात साथ दिली, शिक्षणावर भर दिला आणि आपल्या लोकांना वर खेचलं. आपल्याकडे मात्र अनेकदा स्वतःचे नातेवाईकसुद्धा आर्थिक मदतीपासून दूर पळतात. ही खेकड्यांची मानसिकता बदलली नाही तर फक्त घोषणांनी काहीही साध्य होणार नाही. मुंबईचं बळ तिच्या विविधतेत आहे. इथे मराठीही आहे, गुजरातीही आहे, जैनही आहे, मारवाडीही आहे, मुस्लिमही आहे, ख्रिश्चनही आहे, पारसीही आहे, दक्षिण भारतीयही आहे, उत्तर भारतीयही आहे. हे सहअस्तित्वच मुंबईला मुंबई बनवतं. हे काढून टाकलं तर उरेल फक्त रिकामा अहंकार. भूमिपुत्राचा अभिमान असू द्या, पण तो इतरांच्या अपमानावर उभा राहू नये. मुंबई कोणाच्या बापाची मालमत्ता नाही. मुंबई त्या प्रत्येकाची आहे ज्याने इथे राहून, कष्ट करून, कायद्याने जगून आणि शहराच्या वाढीत योगदान दिलं आहे. इतिहास शिकायचा असेल तर पूर्ण शिका. सोयीचा इतिहास घेऊन द्वेष पसरवू नका.

म्हणजे आधी मीडियाला बोलवायचं, प्रकरण मोठं करायचं, एका संपूर्ण समाजाविरोधात वातावरण तयार करायचं, आणि आता काम झाल्यावर “कृपया मीडिया सोसायटीत येऊ नये, रहिवाशांना त्रास होतोय” म्हणायचं? हेच तर अनेकजण सांगत होते. हे प्रकरण संवादाने आणि सोसायटीच्या आत शांतपणे सुटू शकत होतं. पण त्याऐवजी याला भाषिक, धार्मिक आणि भूमिपुत्र विरुद्ध बाहेरचे असा रंग दिला गेला. मीडिया आला, व्ह्यूज मिळाले, सोशल मीडियावर राग पसरला, समाजात फूट पडली. आणि आता सर्वांना “शांतता राखा” सांगितलं जातंय. पांढरी पट्टी काढली किंवा पुन्हा रंगवली, हा मुद्दा आता गौण आहे. मोठा प्रश्न हा आहे की एका स्थानिक सोसायटीच्या वादाला संपूर्ण जैन/गुजराती समाजाविरोधात जनमत तयार करण्यासाठी का वापरलं गेलं? जर रहिवाशांचा त्रास खरा आहे, तर तो आधीही समजायला हवा होता. मीडियाचा जमाव, मुलाखती, आरोप, घोषणा, सोशल मीडियावर ट्रायल, यामुळे शांतता निर्माण होत नाही. उलट संशय आणि द्वेष वाढतो. मुंबईत आपण अनेक दशकं सर्व समाजांसोबत राहिलो आहोत. जैन, गुजराती, मराठी, मुस्लिम, ख्रिश्चन, शीख, पारसी, दक्षिण भारतीय, सगळ्यांनी या शहरात आपापल्या पद्धतीने योगदान दिलं आहे. एका पांढऱ्या पट्टीच्या वादातून संपूर्ण समाजाला “धोका” म्हणून दाखवणं चुकीचं होतं. मतभेद असतील तर कायदेशीर मार्ग आहे, सोसायटीची बैठक आहे, प्रशासन आहे, संवाद आहे. पण प्रत्येक गोष्टीला मीडिया सर्कस बनवून समाजात फूट पाडणं, आणि नंतर “आता प्रकरण बंद” म्हणणं, हे जबाबदार वर्तन नाही. ज्यांना खरंच मुंबईची आणि समाजाची काळजी आहे त्यांनी आग लावून नंतर पाणी विकण्याचा धंदा बंद करावा. समाजाला नाटक नको, शांतता आणि प्रामाणिक संवाद हवा आहे.

माझ्या सर्व मराठी मित्रांना एक विनंती आहे. या माणसाला आंधळेपणाने पाठिंबा देण्याआधी एकदा नीट विचार करा. हा तोच माणूस आहे ज्याने एकदा कुणीतरी त्याला गणपतीची म्युरल भेट दिली म्हणून तक्रार केली होती. त्याला वैयक्तिकरित्या मूर्तीपूजेवर विश्वास नसेल, हा त्याचा वैयक्तिक विषय आहे. पण ज्याने श्रद्धेने आणि प्रेमाने भेट दिली, त्याच्या भावना तरी समजून घेता आल्या पाहिजेत. तुम्ही एखाद्याच्या श्रद्धेवर विश्वास ठेवत नसाल तरी त्या व्यक्तीच्या भावनेचा आदर करता येतो. पण तिथेसुद्धा याने रडगाणं गायलं आणि अपमानासारखी भाषा केली. आणि आता हाच माणूस मुलाखतीत म्हणतो की “आम्ही आमच्या देवीला कोंबड्या आणि बकरे अर्पण करतो”, जणू काही हा अचानक श्रद्धा आणि परंपरेचा रक्षक झाला आहे. मग नेमकी भूमिका काय आहे? कुणीतरी गणपतीची म्युरल भेट दिली तर मूर्तीपूजा चुकीची, पण सध्याच्या अजेंड्यासाठी कोंबडी-बकरी अर्पण करणं “आपली परंपरा”? हे मराठी अस्मितेचं प्रकरण नाही. हा निवडक संताप आहे. अशा लोकांचं कामच समाजात राग निर्माण करणं, विशिष्ट समाजांना टार्गेट करणं आणि स्वतःला चर्चेत ठेवणं असतं. आज जैन आहेत, उद्या दुसरा कुणीतरी असेल. मीडिया यांना फुटेज देतो कारण वादातून व्ह्यूज मिळतात, पण त्याची किंमत समाजाला द्वेष आणि फुटीच्या रूपाने मोजावी लागते. आपल्या संस्कृतीचा अभिमान बाळगणं योग्य आहे. पण त्या अभिमानाच्या नावाखाली दुसऱ्यांची श्रद्धा, आहार, जीवनशैली किंवा समाजाचा अपमान करणं हा अभिमान नाही, ती असुरक्षितता आहे. मराठी लोकांनी कुणाच्या वैयक्तिक नैराश्याचे आणि अपयशी प्रसिद्धीच्या प्रयत्नांचे फुकटचे कार्यकर्ते बनू नये. पाठिंबा देण्याआधी लॉजिकने विचार करा.

To all my Marathi friends who are blindly supporting this guy, please think once before making him your voice. This is the same person who once complained about someone gifting him a Ganpati mural. Even if he personally does not believe in idol worship, basic decency says you can respect the emotions of the person who gifted it to you. You don’t have to believe in someone’s faith to respect their sentiment. But even there, he chose to rant and insult. And now the same person goes in interviews and says, “We offer hens and goats to our Devi Maa,” as if he is suddenly the protector of faith and tradition. So what exactly is the stand here? Idol worship is a problem when someone gifts you a Ganpati mural, but animal sacrifice becomes “our tradition” when it helps your current narrative? This is not about Marathi asmita. This is selective outrage. People like this survive by creating anger, targeting communities and keeping themselves relevant. Today it is Jains, tomorrow it will be someone else. Media gives them footage because controversy brings views, but society pays the price through more hatred and division. Being proud of your culture is good. But using that pride to insult other people’s faith, food habits, lifestyle or community is not pride. It is insecurity. Marathi people should not become foot soldiers for someone else’s frustration and failed relevance. Think logically before supporting such people.

माझ्या सर्व मराठी मित्रांना एक विनंती आहे. या माणसाला आंधळेपणाने पाठिंबा देण्याआधी एकदा नीट विचार करा. हा तोच माणूस आहे ज्याने एकदा कुणीतरी त्याला गणपतीची म्युरल भेट दिली म्हणून तक्रार केली होती. त्याला वैयक्तिकरित्या मूर्तीपूजेवर विश्वास नसेल, हा त्याचा वैयक्तिक विषय आहे. पण ज्याने श्रद्धेने आणि प्रेमाने भेट दिली, त्याच्या भावना तरी समजून घेता आल्या पाहिजेत. तुम्ही एखाद्याच्या श्रद्धेवर विश्वास ठेवत नसाल तरी त्या व्यक्तीच्या भावनेचा आदर करता येतो. पण तिथेसुद्धा याने रडगाणं गायलं आणि अपमानासारखी भाषा केली. आणि आता हाच माणूस मुलाखतीत म्हणतो की “आम्ही आमच्या देवीला कोंबड्या आणि बकरे अर्पण करतो”, जणू काही हा अचानक श्रद्धा आणि परंपरेचा रक्षक झाला आहे. मग नेमकी भूमिका काय आहे? कुणीतरी गणपतीची म्युरल भेट दिली तर मूर्तीपूजा चुकीची, पण सध्याच्या अजेंड्यासाठी कोंबडी-बकरी अर्पण करणं “आपली परंपरा”? हे मराठी अस्मितेचं प्रकरण नाही. हा निवडक संताप आहे. अशा लोकांचं कामच समाजात राग निर्माण करणं, विशिष्ट समाजांना टार्गेट करणं आणि स्वतःला चर्चेत ठेवणं असतं. आज जैन आहेत, उद्या दुसरा कुणीतरी असेल. मीडिया यांना फुटेज देतो कारण वादातून व्ह्यूज मिळतात, पण त्याची किंमत समाजाला द्वेष आणि फुटीच्या रूपाने मोजावी लागते. आपल्या संस्कृतीचा अभिमान बाळगणं योग्य आहे. पण त्या अभिमानाच्या नावाखाली दुसऱ्यांची श्रद्धा, आहार, जीवनशैली किंवा समाजाचा अपमान करणं हा अभिमान नाही, ती असुरक्षितता आहे. मराठी लोकांनी कुणाच्या वैयक्तिक नैराश्याचे आणि अपयशी प्रसिद्धीच्या प्रयत्नांचे फुकटचे कार्यकर्ते बनू नये. पाठिंबा देण्याआधी लॉजिकने विचार करा.
