@estherzelda0514 @AntiCommieBecca We still need to convince some women that a Full Time Working man SHOULD be enough to create a life with You do not need to DOUBLE your Household income to live really well A 2nd earner puts you OVER the top by plenty

The issue is that the bottom half of women are much higher achieving than the bottom half of men, yet women are still expected to work just as hard as men and do all the domestic and childcare tasks. So lower achieving women opt out from fishing through the dregs of male losers that are perceived to only decrease their living standards. Men could fix this by prioritizing education, learning to be more emotionally astute and supportive, and taking on more domestic and childcare tasks. Instead, the bottom quintiles of men have prioritized sports betting, crypto, gig work with no benefits, streaming, and consuming bottomless wells of manosphere slop that teach them that they have no responsibility to better themselves or offer anything worth having to women, who need to be viciously politically repressed and treated like garbage. And people wonder why the poor no longer get married and have children.

"Women aged 18-55 say the top reason they aren’t reaching their desired fertility is inability to find a spouse" Been saying this for over 15 years. In fact, I wrote a book about it. (OTHERHOOD, 2014)

I think the problem is less gendered. Romance is tough for many. Always has been. For much of human history, single life was very boring and, especially for women, basically a guarantee of poverty. Intense pressure to settle even for crappy unions ("take my wife, please!").

This is why I tweet so much about dating The birth rate won’t be solved by married people scolding unmarried people to “just get married and have kids” or “think about your fertility!!!” People are trying, dating is the bottleneck

@martyrdison why should you settle for less than you want? what does that say about the man willing to "give you the keys to his place a week into knowing him".

@datingbyblaine how do you deliver unrealistic matches to both people?

My worry for the AI matchmaker thesis is that singles don't want realistic, good-on-paper matches. Customers hire me for matchmaking precisely because I deliver unrealistic matches they can’t get elsewhere. AI pairing sounds nice, but actually think about the UX. Would you pay for Hinge if all the aspirational hotties disappeared, and you could only see 1-2 profiles a computer has deemed “realistic” for you every month? Why do you think Raya has been so successful? No shade implied for the teams working on AI matchmakers. Everyone I’ve interacted with in that world seems smart, and I genuinely wish them success. I’m just skeptical that AI pairing meshes with how people actually date.
