We broke down 19 Google Workspace backup solutions – not based on vendor claims, but on what real users say on Capterra, G2, Gartner, r/sysadmin, and r/msp.
We went through the reviews and dug into the community discussions. Pulled out the most recurring themes – pricing transparency, restore reliability, vendor lock-in, support quality – and used those as the foundation for evaluating each vendor.
The goal wasn't to pick a winner. It was to give an honest picture of the market so IT teams and MSPs can make an informed decision based on what actually matters to them: storage control, compliance requirements, multi-tenant management, and so on.
If you're currently evaluating options or just want to see how the landscape looks in 2026 – the full breakdown is in the link below.

If your backup admin got phished tomorrow, how quickly could someone undo your entire backup strategy?
Usually faster than people expect.
We wrote a guide on hardening backups against exactly this scenario – encryption, immutability, integrity checks, access controls.
Not "turn these on". How to make sure they hold when it counts.

An AWS region in Bahrain recently experienced a major outage, impacting services and connectivity (Source: Reuters).
A strong reminder – cloud is not immune to failure.
If you have only one backup copy in the cloud, you are still exposed.
True resilience means storing backups across different regions, data centers, and even cloud providers.
Multi-cloud backup is not overengineering. It's risk management.
With MSP360, you can back up data to multiple cloud storage providers like Amazon S3, Azure, Backblaze B2 or Wasabi – and keep copies across regions to avoid a single point of failure.
Don't put your recovery in the same place as your risk.

What's the one backup control your team keeps skipping?
After incidents, we hear the same answers:
• Immutability that attackers could override
• Encryption that didn't protect against storage breach
• Integrity checks only on latest data
• 2FA recovery paths already burned
Everything "looked fine" – until it wasn't.
This World Backup Day, we broke down what these controls actually protect against – and how to verify they hold up under pressure, not just on a dashboard.

The gap between "backups are running" and "we can recover" is where incidents become disasters.
4 controls that close it:
✔️ Encryption – in transit + at rest (AES client-side)
✔️ Immutability – Object Lock so ransomware can't delete restore points
✔️ Integrity checks + VM restore verification
✔️ 2FA, RBAC, IP allowlisting on your backup console

Today is #WorldBackupDay.
The question nobody asks: when did you last test a restore?
Ransomware doesn't just encrypt files – it hits your backups first. A success log means nothing if you can't recover under pressure.

Managed backup isn't just "backup at scale". It’s backup as an operational function.
The question changes from "is this machine backed up?" to "can we maintain protection reliably across the environment?"
Good managed backup includes policy control, monitoring, reporting, and restore oversight. Job success alone is not enough. You need visibility into backup health over time.
At scale, backup pain usually comes from weak oversight, not missing backup jobs. If every exception needs manual digging, the system isn't really managed.
The goal is ongoing backup confidence, not just scheduled backup activity.

Storage tools are underrated until cloud admin work becomes repetitive.
The real problem is not "can we access the bucket?"
It's how much friction basic tasks create.
✔️ Navigation speed matters.
✔️ Context switching matters.
If simple storage inspection becomes annoying, teams delay it.
Delayed inspection turns small issues into larger ones.
Good storage tooling keeps everyday admin work lightweight.

We're introducing Restore Wizard in MSP360 Managed Backup – a more guided restore flow for file recovery 🚀
The problem it addresses is familiar – restore workflows can be fragmented. Users may know what they need to recover, but not always which path gets them there fastest.
Restore Wizard is designed to make that process easier to follow step by step:
• Choose what to recover
• Choose where to restore it
• Move through recovery with less product-side complexity
With the current iteration of Restore Wizard, users can restore data back to the source computer.
✅ Why that matters: recovery is not just about having a backup. It is about being able to move through restore quickly and confidently when something goes wrong

Remote access isn't just a support tool. It's part of your incident path.
A remote session is where diagnosis turns into action.
If the access workflow is inconsistent, your support quality becomes inconsistent too.
Good remote access reduces friction between alert ➡️ investigation ➡️ fix.
Bad remote access creates side channels: extra tools, extra steps, extra uncertainty.
The question isn't "can we connect?" – it's "can we support at scale without improvisation?"
Standardized remote workflows save more time than flashy features.

When it comes to backup for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, many teams run into the same questions.
SaaS backup terminology can get confusing fast. Even experienced IT teams sometimes struggle to clearly distinguish between retention, redundancy, and a true backup strategy.
Typical questions include:
• What is actually being protected?
• Where are the gaps?
• How should retention be configured?
• What does "secure backup" really mean in SaaS?
To help clarify these basics, we've put together a practical FAQ-style guide covering the essentials.
What's inside:
✔️ Setup & Access
✔️ Backup Configuration
✔️ Security & Encryption
✔️ Scheduling & Retention
✔️ Restore & Deletion
✔️ Backup Operation & Monitoring
✔️ Licensing & Scope
Whether you're optimizing an existing backup setup or building a new one from scratch, this guide will help you avoid common mistakes and build a backup approach you can rely on.

A free RMM is useful only if you use it to test process, not just features.
1️⃣ Community Edition should answer: "Can our team create clean policies from day one?"
2️⃣ The goal isn't "free monitoring". It's validating patching, alerting, scripts and response flow before scale.
3️⃣ Small environments are where bad habits look harmless. That's exactly why they're dangerous.
4️⃣ If your CE trial teaches people to work manually, you're rehearsing future pain.
5️⃣ Use a free RMM to test discipline: naming, thresholds, ownership, escalation, exceptions.
6️⃣ Better to find broken logic at 20 endpoints than at 500.

Standalone backup is a local control model, not "managed backup with fewer features" 💡
The unit of administration is the machine or server.
You define protection for that workload and manage it locally.
That works well when ownership is clear and the environment is limited.
It stops working cleanly when local configs start multiplying across many systems.
The issue isn't product power.
It's whether local administration is still the right model.
If backup visibility requires checking system by system, growth will expose the limit fast.

RMM doesn't break at the monitoring layer.
It breaks at the workflow layer.
A scalable RMM is really a policy engine + remediation layer + access path.
If patching, reboot logic, and maintenance windows constantly collide, that's not "complexity". That's bad design.
If scripts don't have a clear purpose, owner, and reuse pattern, automation becomes folklore.
Alert fatigue is often a symptom of missing thresholds, weak dedupe, or unclear escalation rules.
Good RMM reduces decision load.
Bad RMM creates more "judgment calls" for techs.
The test: сan your team explain what happens after an alert in one clean sequence?

Free RMM can be a trap if you skip structure.
Start with:
• Golden policies
• Endpoint grouping
• Script hygiene
• Clear alert-to-ticket rules
Then scale. Check out our free RMM before scaling → msp360.com/rmm/free-rmm-s…
Either way you can do scaling anytime, can't you?

Remote access in 2026 must be:
✔️ Encrypted
✔️ Role-controlled
✔️ Auditable
✔️ Fast
If "we still forward ports sometimes" is true – that's a risk, not a workflow.
