On #MandelaDay2025, we hosted our very first Family Maths Day in #ALEXANDRA and it was fantastic! Over 300 parents and learners came together for a day packed with maths, fun, and plenty of laughter. Who knew that a day dedicated to numbers and problem-solving could be so fun?

The NSTF, in partnership with member @SciBono Discovery Centre in Johannesburg, recognises the International Day of Women and Girls in Science today. This significant day is commemorated annually on 11 February, highlighting the critical role women and girls play in #STEM, and the urgent need to address the gender gap in these fields. (STEM = science, technology, engineering and mathematics.) The 2025 theme, “Equity in Science for a Sustainable Future,” underscores the importance of creating inclusive opportunities for women and girls to actively contribute to solving pressing global challenges like climate change, #health issues, and environmental sustainability. This special day was marked by an inspiring talk titled “Making #mathematics count” by Dr Lynn Bowie, Director at @OLICO Maths Education, winner of the 2024 NSTF-@South32 Award to a Non-Governmental Organisation. This was done as part of the NSTF Share ‘n Dare outreach programme, providing platforms for NSTF Award winners to act as role models and #ambassadors for #science, #engineering, #technology (SET) and #innovation.
