Hats off to a pioneer! From 1987-1992 OUBEY used the Amiga 500 computer to create his unique PhotonPaintings. Building his own laboratory by combining different devices, he enabled himself to emerge various objects into digital images, using the Amiga as a membrane to transform them into something new. His work is that of a pioneer ahead of his time, looking for ways to bring the paintings already conceived in his mind to life, free from the artist´s individual brush stroke. "The one that really got me was Rubber Soul, which came out at the end of 1965. Rubber Soul is probably the greatest record ever. "It came out in December of 1965 and sent me right to the piano bench. It’s a whole album of Beatles folk songs, a whole album where everything flows together and everything works. I said, 'How could they possibly make an album where the songs all sound like they come from the same place.' I couldn't deal with it. It blew my mind. It wasn’t just the lyrics and the melodies but the production and their harmonies. They had such unique harmonies, you know? [It was] almost art music . . . I thought, 'Damn it, I've got to do that. I've got to try that with the Beach Boys.' "You could hear their ideas so clearly in their music. They didn’t pose like some other bands. They were great poets about simple things, and that also made it easier to hear the song. And they never did anything clumsy. It was like perfect pitch, but for entire songs. Everything landed on its feet. "Pet Sounds is a good album, but not the best. I think Rubber Soul is still the best album of all time. When the whole world learned about Bucha. About Ukrainians butchered in the streets of Bucha by Russian occupiers. About our people tortured in basements. About those shot on the roads. About adults and children whose bodies were found in graves in Bucha. Everyone saw the horror that Russia and its aggression bring. They saw what Ukraine is really defending itself against. Today, on the fourth anniversary of Bucha’s liberation from Russian occupiers, we honored the memory of Ukrainians who were killed and tortured there. We remember and will never forget what the enemy did. Every Russian murderer, executioner, and terrorist must be held accountable for every crime against our people. Blessed be the memory of everyone whose lives were taken by Russia – to all who were killed in Bucha and across Ukraine at the hands of Russian occupiers.

Bucha endured 33 days of Russian occupation. Terror, torture, 33 days of total evil. More than 600 Ukrainian men and women were killed. Very often, the images from Bucha are compared to the horrific scenes of World War II. But there is a major difference – and today it does not reflect well on current world leaders. Because Nazism was punished for its crimes, not granted partial sanctions relief. No crisis or destabilization in the world can justify this. We must not forget or dismiss everything Ukraine has endured during this time. The catastrophe of every city and village into which Russia has brought its war and death. Bucha, Irpin, Borodyanka. Mariupol, Yahidne, Avdiivka. Olenivka, Vuhledar, Chasiv Yar – and many others. From the first Bucha Summit until today, this list has only grown. This means one thing: we need far more determination, far more pressure on Putin and Russia, and far more real actions and steps that bring the victory of peace and justice closer. I said this while addressing the participants of the 2026 Bucha Summit.

Voyager 1, launched in 1977, will reach 1 light-day from Earth this year in November. Voyager 1 has been flying for nearly 50 years at 38,000 mph. One light day means radio signals traveling at the speed of light take 24 hours to reach it. When engineers send a command to Voyager 1, they wait two full days for a response one day out, one day back. Voyager 1 was launched in 1977 powered by a plutonium RTG that generates roughly 4 watts of usable power today less than an LED bulb. On that power budget it is transmitting data across 24 light hours of interstellar space to a 70 meter antenna on Earth. It has now traveled farther from Earth than any human made object in history, moving at 17km per second, and it still calls home every day. The most distant thing humanity has ever touched is a 47 year-old spacecraft running on 4 watts, and we can still hear it.
