@jfwduffield The broad theme of this conversation seems to be ‘if only it was still 1958, and aren’t women awful?’ Pretty unedifying stuff.

I wonder why people don't listen to Test Match Special any longer? As with much of the BBC's programming the collapse in the quality has been stark. It is now basically unlistenable.

It comes with endorsements from various luminaries, including a Nobel Prize winner in physics. Reading it hasn’t affected my religious tendencies either way, but it has definitely undermined my faith in science.

@ProfBrianCox It’s funny how people who’ve never experienced things like this say it’s bullshit and false! 🤣 Ye ok, just because science hasn’t an understanding of it or proof YET doesn’t mean it’s not real. The absolute idiocy and close minded arrogance of scientists never fails to amaze me.

@InlandEmpire777 @francescrook Just a view (like most of ‘X’). I’m certainly not advocating some kind of dull TV version of the sleeve notes. Of course this is entertainment. It’s just that it doesn’t entertain me much with all that mute reconstruction. The ‘drama elements’ (I think) are disastrous.

Oh dear this bbc2 programme about Mozart is dire and it’s only five minutes in. Trying too hard. Hate the trite re-enactments.

@InlandEmpire777 @francescrook 😂 I have no doubt of that. At all. Not sneery at all, by the way. Just recognition that the reenactment (especially) is really poor, and consequently distracting. A really good film / tv programme shouldn’t have anything that takes the viewer out of the moment. This has plenty.

@NoContextBrits When in London, never accept the fare on the taxi’s meter - the drivers expect you to haggle.

@WendyHurrell what on Earth was that cave painting guy on about? Seemed important, and yet . . . what has he discovered, exactly?
