@ryan_murton Totally agree. Some story going around about Walker staying on next year… those wages for an aging player in the championship is what gets clubs into the position Leicester are in. And we don’t have any players who will bring in much, unlike last time. I fear for the future

Leicester City and Luton Town should be real eye openers for the Burnley ownership. 5+ years into their project - they have shown they have no idea how to run a football club. They need to bring people in that do. Swallow your pride! #twitterclarets

@claretcrumpet For me, its the only time those loan to buys, don't work. If you loan him in, gets you promoted and then you can go buy better.

4 pros signed in the EFL 3 with obligations to buy Some have been critical of this. For me, it’s the ONE bit of the recruitment process, we got right. Some of our best players this season. Their values will have increased. Build the 26/27 side around them! #twitterclarets

@ijdb74 @PDBertram @anon_opin That social aspect has mostly disappeared since the domination of FOBT machines. They are no longer pleasant places to hang out. Their differentiation is that they take cash and are easier to get around problem gambling / AML protections than online

@readthebus @PDBertram @anon_opin I hear they have online gambling now. It’s a working class thing to meet in the bookies, you may want totalitarianism but most people don’t.

Betting shops should only be allowed in areas where the median income is north of £80k. Any less than that and they are preying on people who can't afford to lose hundreds every month.

@PDBertram @anon_opin Completely rational. But that’s the function of governments, they intervene when the market fails to deliver a desirable outcome for society

@claretcrumpet Amusing that they emphasise that EVERY Burnley fan would remember that goal, but they clearly aren’t a fan

Who is writing these pieces and why is no one checking them? I’ve been saying this for 4-5 years now. Whats going on? And YES, it really does matter! #twitterclarets

@carlyblade @JimmyRambleYT Normally yeah. But they’ve been relegated since August. Everyone knew they were down. But we expected you to be pushing for promotion. So relative to expectations, your season is worse

Getting relegated in your rivals front yard is beyond anything you can comprehend as a football fan. Keep saying you’re not bothered, as if it will make it hurt less. If you’re not bothered you probably need to find a new hobby.

Not the first time this season we’ve been better following the introduction of Ashley Barnes. Although technically past his sell by date, he clearly moves them up a level. Wouldn’t be the worst idea to drop him in next Saturday. #TwitterClarets

@nathanrogersfbl @TurfCastPodcast Agree with most of that. Biggest worry is where we’ll be in a couple of years. Unacceptably high chance that we’ll be left with high debts and insufficient income to service it. Then it’s a dark dark place

@CWeatherspoon_ @TurfCastPodcast The only way out would be to get a promotion to the prem then not spend a penny and use the TV money to pay off the debt. But fans wouldn’t accept that. I fear what happens if we fail to bounce back straight away

Since Burnley's Dec 2020 leveraged takeover, gone from solid if unremarkable PL club with no borrowings to a (bad) yo-yo side, £113m in debt, costing £10m+ annually at rates from 8.5% to 12.75% Over four years on, owners ALK Capital still not filed any UK parent company accounts

@TheBurnleyWay Then need a right winger who can help him out as not (yet?) good enough in prem

Don’t wanna see any square pegs tomorrow. If Tuanzebe isn’t fit to start, put Sonne RB. Don’t need to off-balance the team with somebody who shouldn’t be there.

@TheBurnleyWay @BFCTurf We didn’t have a goalscorer in the championship, we definitely don’t in the prem. Certainly none sitting on the bench

@BFCTurf Myth. We have one of the strongest squads we’ve had in the PL. He’s choosing not to play game changers.

Discussions continue as the EFL board consider expanding the Championship play-offs to include teams finishing 7th and 8th per @SkySportsNews. Do you think they should be expanded? 🤔
