One of the most important and underrated skills in life is learning how to learn. Learning which methods of implanting knowledge and making connections works best for you is one of the most rewarding things you will do. As you learn how to learn, you’ll learn faster, and that momentum just builds over time.

@ncsujen @1ssve That’s a good observation. I think I’ll add that to my theory.

@sentientlore @1ssve My theory is it's bc with a set limit, people want to get the most of what they're due, & they know that amount is OK. If it's "unlimited", there's the fear that "too much" will make you look like a slacker, get laid off or passed over for promotions, etc. So they self-limit PTO

Every job should have a spring break, & atleast a week off in the summer without us having to use PTO. We all deserve a break

I absolutely disagree. While I think that the “we’re a family” line is manipulative and honestly condescending, that doesn’t mean you can’t make real friends at work. If you don’t enjoy being around the people you spend 2000 hours a year with, you’re doing something wrong. Either your whole company is miserable and you shouldn’t be there, or you’re just incapable of distinguishing between genuine and insincere friendships.
Dear Self.@Dearme2_

STOP socializing at work - No drinks after work - No weekend picnics - No lunch with the team Colleagues are NOT your friends. NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Even if there were an infinite number of nothing (or lifeless) universes, since they would have nothing to experience them, would time, matter, or energy even truely exist? If there’s nothing to experience it, it may as well go by in an instant. With that out of the way, the only situation in which there’s a way to see if there is something rather than nothing is in a universe where there is something.

Why is there something instead of nothing?

Make the habit easily repeatable. Start so small that dread never shows up. Once the habit exists, you can scale the volume without breaking the chain.

There was a story I heard a few years back- I’d appreciate if someone tracked it down and commented it. There was a group of young adults that bought high vis vests and hard hats. They walked into a store (I believe it was a Walmart) with refrigerator a couple refrigerator dollies, unplugged the vending machines, and walked out of the store with them. No one batted an eye. No one stopped them. Take from that story what you will.

It took me 28 years to realize that the cheat code to life is just confidence.

@Literariium Somebody in the comments asked how equality can be determined. I think the best measure of it for this case is emotional intelligence. Someone who can see and understand things from another’s perspective is going to attract all types, but befriend people who can do the same.

I started learning German a couple days ago and, in tandem with my Spanish knowledge, I’m starting to feel like Neo in the matrix when he starts seeing everything as ones and zeros. Looking at English with Latin and Germanic roots is absolutely wild. 10/10 would recommend 😂

@DNAMindset I agree that we can’t understand physics without mathematics and it is indispensable, though you can’t mix the correlation for the causation.

@sentientlore Yes so what you are saying is the mathematics is inherent to the nature of reality. Mathematics is indispensable. Physics is nothing without mathematics.

I don’t think that’s accurate. Gravity on Earth is 9.8 meters per second squared not because we picked that number, but because it is. We can make accurate predictions of physics with math, but they’re just that, predictions of what is already going to happen weather the math we have is right or not.
DNA Mindset@DNAMindset

@sentientlore @_khusheyyy You have it flipped. Physics is a representation of mathematics.

To some extent I agree. Though it is difficult to convince yourself of something that you deep down don’t believe. That’s why I always say that action is just as, if not more, important than contemplation and aspiring. When you act a certain way, it steers your identity in that direction.

Could you tell what it would feel like if we weren’t in a simulation? Even if we aren’t in a simulation, nothing that we see is how it actually is. We see the representation of those things as our brains can best compute through our senses. Though you could argue that we can get closer by constantly questioning and using/creating technologies to better represent them.
Joseph McCard@MccardJoseph

If reality is a simulation, why does it feel like something? 🤔

@MccardJoseph I get where you’re coming from, but those examples wouldn’t change from simulation to reality would they?

@sentientlore "Simulation" is a vague word. I am in consciousness, but there are different kinds. You can experience consciousness in different ways, dreams, imagination, reverie, fantasies,..then you can feel the difference.
