@GergelyOrosz Better way is to empower teams with the information about how much they spend. We do cost allocation at the squad level for AWS, NewRelic and Databricks...more often than not, squads just fix it themselves and keep simple costs low

The way cost reductions work at almost all companies: - Sort by monthly/annual bill - Project to reduce the top 3 highest spend by at least X%. Or if the amount feels outlandish/hard to justify vs eg usage, consider another vendor or build in-house (really!)

When I talked w ~70 companies about what vendor costs they are reducing, the two most frequently mentioned was AWS/GCP and Datadog. Simply because they were usually by far the biggest spend. @caseyrosenthal @Skyscanner does a 5-week paid leave after 5 years of working there. You soon find out the dependencies when folks aren't coming back for over a month and get the time to fix it. Great perk and adds a bit of resilience.
